“Love at first sight”: the history of the highest-rated romantic show on Russian television. TV presenter Alla Volkova: biography, personal life

  • 26.06.2019

Many of us are very familiar with all these people whom we could very often see on TV screens in the past, and some of whom we still see. Next, we invite you to remember popular TV presenters from the 90s, and also find out how their future fates turned out.

Arina Sharapova started as the host of the Vesti program on Channel 2, and from 1996 to 1998 she became the host of the Vremya (ORT) information program.

Then Sharapova moved to the “Good Morning” program, and after that she began to rarely appear on air.

In 2014, Arina became president of the School of Arts and Media Technologies, and in the same year she appeared as the host of the Crimea Island project.

Boris Kryuk. From January 13, 1991 to 1999, Boris was the permanent presenter and director of the TV game “Love at First Sight.”

Boris did not disappear from television, he simply became invisible - since May 2001, he became the presenter, director, scriptwriter and general producer of the television game "What? Where? When?"

The audience hears only his voice. In the first time after the death of the creator and permanent presenter of the program, Vladimir Voroshilov, the editors hid the name of the new presenter from both viewers and experts: his voice was distorted using a computer.

Alla Volkova was the host of the romantic television show "Love at First Sight" along with Boris Kryuk.

After the closure of this show, Alla married for the third time, works as an editor of all programs produced by the production center "Igra-TV" - "What? Where? When?", "Songs of the 20th Century" and "Cultural Revolution".

Alexander Lyubimov. He came to television as a correspondent and then host of the “Vzglyad” program. From 1995-1998 he became the author and host of the “One on One” program.

Since 2007, he has been an employee of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, and hosted the “Senate” program on the “Russia” channel. Later he was appointed first deputy general director of the Rossiya TV channel.

In August 2011, he left VGTRK, becoming a member of the Right Cause political party. In November of the same year, he left the party and headed the RBC TV channel; at the end of 2014, he left the post, but remained on the board of directors.

Svetlana Sorokina. From 1991 to 1997, she was a political commentator and host of the daily news program Vesti. Sorokina’s signature “farewell” songs, with which she closed each issue of Vesti, became especially famous.

From May 2001 to January 2002, she worked on the TV-6 channel in the information program “Today on TV-6” and the talk show “Voice of the People.”

Now Svetlana is a member of the Academy of Russian Television, a former member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation (2009-2011), a teacher at the Higher School of Economics, the host of the “In the Circle of Light” program on the radio station “Echo of Moscow” and the “Sorokina” program on the Dozhd TV channel "

In the 80s and early 90s, Tatyana Vedeneeva was perhaps the most popular TV presenter. She led "Alarm Clock", "Good night, kids!" and “Visiting a Fairy Tale” (Aunt Tanya), the program “Morning”, “Song of the Year” and many other television shows.

Vedeneeva left television quite suddenly. While vacationing in London, the presenter was delighted with him and decided to extend the trip for a week. I called my work and asked for a few days off.

In Ostankino, no one shared the presenter’s joy about England; Tatiana was categorically offered to return on time or... write a letter of resignation. Vedeneeva did not take the threat seriously. And they took her statement quite seriously.

Now Tatyana is engaged in business. One day, her husband brought her tkemali sauce from Tbilisi. The ex-presenter was inspired by the idea of launching the production of tkemali in Russia. It took several years to study recipes and organize production. Now Tatyana is the owner of the Trest B corporation, and in every metropolitan supermarket you can buy sauces from Vedeneeva.

The peak of Igor Ugolnikov's popularity occurred in the early nineties. First, the program “Both-on!” was aired, followed by the equally funny “Angle Show!” In 1996, Igor released the series of programs “Doctor Angle”.

Afterwards the programs “Good Evening” and “It’s Not Serious!” appeared. But they did not gain popularity.

The official version of Russian television regarding the closure of “Good Evening” is “The program sucks up a lot of money,” Igor said in an interview. “And this is fair: it was daily, a large number of people worked in it.”

For some time, Igor tried himself in a different role: he held the position of vice-president of the Russian Cultural Foundation, and was the director of the House of Cinema. But television didn’t let me go.

Now he produces the TV magazine "Wick". He does not forget the acting profession. He starred in several TV series and films.

Ksenia Strizh hosted the programs “At Ksyusha’s”, “Strizh and others”, “Night Rendezvous”... She never had such wild popularity and recognition as during her work in the program “At Ksyusha’s”. In the early 90s, there was little music on TV, and Swift invited the most interesting artists to her show.

In 1997, Swift returned from television to radio: there she felt at ease. She was a presenter on the La Minor television channel. After a scandal related to the fact that she appeared on air drunk and laughed at the teeth of her guest Alexander Solodukha, information appeared about her dismissal, but now Ksenia is working on the channel again.

Shenderovich’s last program, which was seen by the mass Russian audience, was called “Free Cheese” and aired on TVS. When TVS closed, Shenderovich gave up on big television.

He began writing for Novaya Gazeta and the Gazeta newspaper, and acquired his own programs on Ekho Moskvy and Radio Liberty. True, Shenderovich didn’t manage to quit TV completely.

On the "Russian Channel Abroad" on Sundays in the final analytical program "Russian Panorama" he hosts his own column - "A Cup of Coffee with Shenderovich", in which he tells former compatriots who have gone to live in Israel and Germany how things are here in Russia.

Ivan Demidov was the permanent presenter of the music program "MuzOboz". But the mysterious image with the constant dark glasses is a thing of the past.

Demidov chose the post of Deputy Minister of Culture over a television career, and now he heads the Foundation for the Development of Contemporary Art.

The duet of Olga Shelest and Anton Komolov is an amazing example of professional compatibility and long-term friendship.

After the closure of MTV, the tandem was temporarily revived on the Zvezda channel in the show Starry Evening with Anton Komolov and Olga Shelest, but did not repeat its former success.

Currently, Olga is the permanent host of the entertainment show “Girls” and the music competition “Artist” on the Russia-1 channel, the host of the TV game “Understand Me” on the “Carousel” channel, as well as the co-host of the “Temporarily Available” program with Dmitry Dibrov on the TVC channel .

Anton has worked on various TV channels, and since September 5, 2011, together with Elena Abitaeva, he has been hosting the “RUSH-RadioActive Show” on the radio station Europe Plus

Elena Hanga is remembered for her bold and frank program “About This,” which aired on the NTV channel from 1997 to 2000. And if today the topic of sex is a common thing, then for the late 90s it was a real breakthrough.

Later, Hanga hosted the daytime and, of course, much less loud talk show “The Domino Principle”; at various times, her co-hosts were Elena Starostina, Elena Ishcheeva and Dana Borisova.

Since the fall of 2009, he has been working in unnoticeable projects: he hosts the weekly talk show “Cross Talk” on the Russian English-language channel Russia Today, and broadcasts on the radio station “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.

Valery Komissarov. The program “My Family” dealt with the most pressing topics of family life: diverse characters willingly “washed dirty linen in public”, discussing their problems live on the state channel “Russia”.

Housewives watched the program with bated breath (not least because of the impressive host Valery Komissarov) from 1996 to 2003, until it was canceled.

From November 16 to December 30, 2015 - director and host of the “Our Man” program on Russia 1 channel, as well as the creator and owner of the “My Family” food brand.

In addition to Arina Sharapova, there were several other memorable news anchors on ORT/Channel One. One of them is Alexandra Burataeva. In 1995, she moved to work on the ORT television channel and from the same year began hosting the “Time” and “News” programs until 1999.

On December 19, 1999, she was elected to the State Duma in the single-mandate Kalmyk electoral district and was re-elected in 2003 on the United Russia list.

From March to August 2013, Alexandra worked as PR director of the Sergei Bezrukov Theater, and from September 2013 - president of the production company So-Druzhestvo.

Igor Vykhukholev is also a former presenter of the news programs “News” and “Time” on Channel One. In 2000-2004, he sometimes replaced his colleagues in the Vremya information program.

Went for a promotion. Since 2005 - chief editor of night and morning news broadcasts of the Directorate of Information Programs of Channel One. In 2006 he moved to VGTRK. Since 2006, he has recorded interviews with political figures for the Vesti 24 news channel.

Igor Gmyza. In 1995, after the creation of the ORT television channel, he received an invitation to become the host of the “Time” program. He hosted the program in 1996-1998, alternating with Arina Sharapova.

He worked as the presenter of Novosti until the spring of 2004: at first he hosted daytime and evening broadcasts, towards the end of his work he switched to morning broadcasts, after which he left Channel One.

After a short experience as a political press secretary, he went to radio. Since January 2006 - political commentator for Radio Russia, host of the daily interactive talk show "Minority Opinion"

Sergey Dorenko. In the early 90s he was a political observer at VGTRK and host of the Vesti program. Then the host of the “Time” program on the first channel “Ostankino”, and from January 1994 - the host of the “Podrobnosti” program on the RTR channel.

Then he was the chief producer of the Directorate of Information Programs and Analytical Broadcasting of ORT and the host of the daily program "Time".

Despite the fact that he gained his fame thanks to television, Dorenko has repeatedly stated that he does not watch television. Currently he hosts his own program on YouTube, and since 2014 he has been the editor-in-chief of the radio station “Moscow Speaks”.

Unfortunately, few of today's youth can remember one of the most talented and beautiful TV presenters of the 90s of the last century. But Alla Volkova was just like that. It is worth noting that during her popularity, the attitude towards television was completely different than today. The lack of satellite channels and digital analogues created an information deficit.

That is why the light entertainment program “Love at First Sight”, the first presenter of which was the heroine of our article, was very popular among viewers.

The mysterious presenter of the program

At a time when there was no Internet as such, and the yellow press did not publish various gossip and speculation about stars as freely as today, the life of the actors and presenters who addressed the viewer from the blue screens was truly a secret.

To date, little information about this TV presenter has been provided in the public domain. It is known that Alla was born in 1955. She is an English teacher by training. Alla Volkova has always been of interest to the general public, and information about the presenter’s personal life has never been advertised.

And since people always need to discuss something, and even more so, the general atmosphere on the set of “Love at First Sight” seemed very romantic, rumor immediately attributed the presenter to an affair with her colleague on the air.

A fictional romance between the two leads

Along with the young people who came to the program to find their soulmate, viewers arbitrarily came up with another couple, “Boris Kryuk and Alla Volkova.” This duo was even credited with getting married. Apparently, people liked to think that a couple of young, talented and in love people were helping the participants of their TV show find lovers. And only many years later, in one of her interviews, Alla Volkova, a TV presenter, denied such gossip, firmly stating that there had never been any romance between him and Boris.

How did Volkova get to “Love at First Sight”?

But a rather interesting fact is that Alla was able to get on the program, beloved by thousands of viewers, as a presenter largely thanks to Boris Kryuk’s mother, Natalya Stetsenko. At that time, Alla Volkova already had something to do with television. In 1979, she worked in the youth editorial office of a program called “What? Where? When?". At this time, the television company Igra TV decides to release on the domestic screen an analogue of the English entertainment show under the original name Love at first sight. Thus, the program “Love at First Sight” appeared on the post-Soviet airwaves.

The decision about who would act as presenters was made by Vladimir Voroshilov (not the last person in the Igra television company) and his wife, Natalya Stetsenko (Boris Kryuk’s mother). It was she who suggested taking a girl from the editorial office, who turned out to be Alla Volkova, as a co-host for her son.

Preparing for filming

When Alla Volkova began preparing for broadcasts, it turned out that in the post-Soviet space there was practically no experience in conducting such programs and what exactly was required of the presenters was not entirely clear. For this reason, the filming of the first program took place in London, where foreign colleagues shared their experience with the hosts of the newly created program.

It is worth noting that English specialists continued to support the creators of the Russian version of the program for the next few years, since domestic television turned out to be not quite ready to film a show of this level. It is worth recalling that “Love at First Sight” first aired in 1991. By that time, as Alla Volkova herself now recalls, the local television center did not even have a computer, and the equipment used in the work was produced in 1960-1970. The television team was supplied with everything necessary by their foreign colleagues.

Rules of the legendary game

For the post-Soviet era, the idea and format of the program were very unusual and quite interesting. At the first stage, 6 people took part in the show: three guys and three girls. The presenters began asking the players various interesting, and sometimes slightly tricky, questions. At the same time, the participants could not see each other. They could form their idea of other players solely on the basis of the answers they heard.

Next, they were asked to decide on their liking and click on the button to select a specific participant. Only after the choice was made could the boys and girls see each other. If the blind choice of the participants was mutual, then a kind of pair formation occurred. And this couple could continue to participate in the game. After filming, the young people who had chosen each other went to a restaurant to chat and get to know each other better. On the second day of filming, the couple returned, and the presenters asked them to answer questions again, which this time were not of a general nature, but concerned each chosen one in the couple. For example, the guy had to answer how the girl would behave in a given situation.

For each correct answer, the couple received as a reward the opportunity to fire one shot on the computer. In the studio there was a large screen with hearts, under which were hidden various prizes (gifts for newlyweds). The most important prize was considered a romantic trip, and the more shots a couple earned with their correct answers, the more significantly their chances of winning the main prize increased.

The fact that “Broken Heart” was hiding in one of the sectors added intrigue and some tension to the airwaves. If a couple got into it, the game ended immediately for them.

Distributed images and roles

When the program was in development, there were practically no requirements for the hosts, since no one had the slightest idea of how exactly a romantic entertainment show should be hosted. Everything that Boris and Alla did on the set was purely improvisation.

Volkova and Kryuk created the impression of a very harmonious pair of presenters. Their on-screen images complemented each other perfectly. Boris has always been distinguished by his intelligence and subtle humor, while it is worth noting that his jokes never had anything to do with sarcasm or irony. He was the personification of intelligence and resourcefulness. Alla Volkova should have had a lighter, more feminine type. She always knew how to attract the attention of TV viewers, appearing in new outfits and changing hairstyles every broadcast.

Over time, stylists made her blonde, but at the same time, it is worth noting that Alla Volkova is a presenter who never looked vulgar or stupid. When the girl was preparing for the release of the program, knowing that the program would be mainly devoted to relationships between men and women, she read a lot of specialized literature, studied the works of Freud and even took psychology courses.

In today's interviews, Alla Volkova herself often thanks the program stylist Alexander Shevchuk for the competent creation of a high-quality on-air image. It was his suggestion that fashionable, beautiful and very elegant outfits were selected for the presenter. It was also Shevchuk who always selected new hairstyle and makeup for Volkova. Moreover, he was able to change the images of Alla so masterfully and radically that sometimes colleagues on the set could recognize Volkova only by her voice.

Closing the transfer

This program was aired for almost 8 years, which is a very long time for an entertainment show. When the program was closed, the reasons for this began to grow into legends. In fact, everything was banal. The last actual filming took place in 1998, at that time there was a crisis in the yard. The cost of the program cost its creator a fairly large sum, and this was largely due to expensive decorations and the use of computer equipment.

Over time, “Love at First Sight” began to appear on screens less and less. In one of his interviews, Boris Kryuk, recalling those times, said that the closure of the program was quite logical and occurred by mutual agreement of all parties involved in the creation of the show.

Volkova's personal life

This presenter has never put her personal life on display. But apparently, Alla’s relationship was not boring, since from various publications it becomes clear that she only had three official marriages.

It is known that her last husband was musician Igor Ivannikov. It is also known that the TV presenter has two adult sons from her previous marriage.

Where is Alla Volkova now?

After the closing of “Love at First Sight,” Alla Volkova (whose biography was never advertised in detail) did not cease to interest loyal viewers. Unlike her colleague Boris, she did not appear in the new program, and many thought that she had ceased to have anything to do with television at all. But in fact, Volkova has been quite successfully continuing her collaboration with the television company Igra TV and the production center of the same name for many years. She is the program director and editor-in-chief of such programs as “Cultural Revolution” and “What? Where? When?".

Nowadays, many different shows are aired on television, the participants of which must find their soulmate in front of millions of viewers. It all started back in the 90s. The first project of this kind on Russian television was called “Love at First Sight.”

website found out why this unforgettable program is stillis one of the best domestic ones shows of this genre that have ever aired in our country.

In general, the show “Love at First Sight” was the first project in the history of our country that was filmed under a foreign license. The premiere of the first episode of the Russian adaptation of the British television program “Love at first sight” took place in early 1991. The Iron Curtain collapsed, and a flood of foreign films and all kinds of television shows poured into our country. The authors of the domestic version of the competition, in which three guys and three girls answered questions from the hosts about each other and passed interactive tests in the fight for the main prize - a romantic trip, approached the matter with great enthusiasm. As a result, millions of viewers of all ages gathered around their televisions during the broadcast of “Love at First Sight.” Young people dreamed of taking part in the filming, and older people watched with great interest what was happening on the screen and sincerely worried about the newly made couples.

Still from the program

At that time there were no mobile phones, social networks and dating sites, so participation in a romantic show was a real opportunity for its participants to meet their love. Filming of the first episodes of the program took place in London, since domestic television workers had no experience in creating a show of this kind. British specialists were happy to share with their Russian colleagues all their knowledge about working on site during the production of a romantic program.

Still from the program

Boris Kryuk, stepson of Soviet and Russian television star Vladimir Voroshilov, and Alla Volkova, an English teacher, were appointed hosts of the “Love at First Sight” show. The filming of each program took place according to the script, but the presenters had to improvise a lot to make the show more soulful and lively. Fans of the show still remember this magnificent tandem with great warmth - there was no vulgarity or sarcasm in the manner of their communication with the participants and viewers. Boris Kryuk was always an intelligent man with a subtle sense of humor, which helped him more than once while working on the project. Alla Volkova very carefully prepared for the filming of each episode of the show - she studied books on psychology and attended special courses where teachers talked about the scientific approach to people’s love relationships, and her elegant outfits and hairstyles delighted TV viewers.

Still from the program

Now Boris Kryuk continues to work on television - after the death of Voroshilov, he took the place of the host of the cult TV game “What? Where? When?". In addition, he was the author and director of the popular project “Brain Ring”. Much less is known about Alla Volkova. She is not a public person. There is information on the network that Volkova also did not leave television. According to some reports, she works as an editor for the programs “Cultural Revolution” and “What? Where? When?" By the way, many fans of the show for a long time considered Boris and Alla a couple in love, but in fact, each of them had their own personal life and the relationship between them was always exclusively friendly and working.

The program lived for almost 8 years - in 1998, a serious crisis occurred in our country and the expensive project had to be curtailed (during the filming of “Love at First Sight”, then unprecedented moving scenery and modern computer equipment were used). Several attempts were made on Russian and Ukrainian television to revive this popular show, but the authors of the new versions failed to achieve the indicators of the 90s.

Serious relationships arose between many participants and winners of the original “Love at First Sight” program. Thanks to this show, several dozen strong, happy families were created.

« Love at first sight” is a television game show dedicated to the relationship between a man and a woman. The goal of the game is a happily completed search for the other half and a romantic journey that will only lead the newly-acquainted couple to marriage.

“Love at First Sight” became the first licensed game purchased by Russian television in the West. The rights to it belong to the English studio Action Time.

Show Rules " Love at first sight"Initially very simple. Three young men and three girls took part in the game. At the first stage, the game participants had to answer tricky questions from the presenters. At the same time, the players were hidden from each other and made up a performance only on the basis of the answers they heard. Then the girls and boys chose a pair by pressing buttons, and the computer determined which pairs matched. Those who experienced love at first sight went to a restaurant, and the next day the second stage of the game began. Each member of the couple had to answer questions about the expected behavior of the partner in a given situation. Each correct answer earned one shot. After this stage was completed, the couple agreed on who would shoot the drawn hearts. A prize was hidden under each heart; if the shooter hit the heart, the couple received the prize.

The constant hosts of the show " Love at first sight" were Alla Volkova and Boris Kryuk.

The super prize was a romantic trip for two. There was also "heartbreak", which meant the end of the game.

In later editions, the rules of the game changed slightly. Now, among the matched pairs, TV viewers chose one, which immediately moved on to the second stage - answering questions about each other and playing for prizes. The criterion for the audience's choice was screaming - the couple for whom they screamed longer and louder won.

It is not known for certain whether there were so-called “decoy couples” at that time, when specially invited actors participated in the show “Love at First Sight,” but the program did not hear a single announcement of insincerity.

The program first aired on the ORT channel on January 12, 1992, and the last episode of the show took place in 1996. From 1997 to 1998, the program was broadcast on the RTR channel.
