Traditional international festival Circle of Light 2017 will be held this year in Moscow for the seventh time from September 23 to 27.

The Circle of Light Festival will be the most striking visual and sound spectacle this fall in Moscow.

Six sites have been selected to exhibit all the events of the Circle of Light festival, where residents of the capital and guests of Moscow will be able to see it all.

Circle of light. Ostankino 2017. September 23-24, 20.00 – 21.15

The opening of the festival will take place in Ostankino and coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Ostankino Tower. Every minute the TV tower will take on images of the most famous skyscrapers in the world. This is the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building in New York. All the world's high-rise buildings from the USA, France, Canada, UAE, China and Australia.

Ostankino Pond will also become the arena for a multimedia light show. Viewers will see Lavender Fields, Niagara Falls, Yellowstone Park and Bamboo Flute Caves, and visit the Sahara and the Great Barrier Reef.

The multimedia show will complement the real one ice show with the skaters.

From September 23 to 27, 2017, the VII Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light" will be held in the capital Moscow.

The Circle of Light festival is held annually. For five days Moscow will once again turn into a city of light - lighting designers and audio specialists visual arts from all over the world will transform the architectural appearance of the capital. Its most famous buildings will feature colorful large-scale video projections, the streets will be illuminated with fabulous installations, and fantastic multimedia shows using light, fire, lasers and fireworks will give an unforgettable experience and vivid emotions.

Admission to the opening ceremony of the Circle of Light, as well as to other performances of the festival, is free. However, you can watch the opening ceremony up close - from specially organized stands. To do this you need to get an invitation card.

Hundreds of pyrotechnic charges will be launched from four barges installed in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater, the largest of which, 600 mm caliber, has never been presented in Russia before. Japanese fireworks are unique in their properties and have no analogues in the world. They are superior in color and brightness to other fireworks, and the process handmade, passed down from time immemorial, makes every projectile a true work art.

For several days in September, Moscow will once again turn into a center of attraction for light, colorful large-scale video projections will unfold on its iconic buildings, fabulous installations will illuminate the streets, and fantastic multimedia shows using light, fire, lasers and fireworks will give unforgettable impressions and vivid emotions.

The festival, which began in 2011 with three small venues, becomes more vibrant and impressive every year. The number of platforms, the skill of visual effects, and the number of viewers who never tire of sharing their photos, videos and real emotions on social networks are growing. Among the visual effects of the festival are streams of light, video projections, laser shows, light shows and pyrotechnic displays. Water and fire special effects are also used. The scale of the performances is also striking - in 2017 there was a show on the main building of Moscow State University named after. Lomonosov exceeded 40,000 square meters. For the first time in the history of the Circle of Light, the festival site will be Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill . On the facade of the building, light novels will be shown dedicated to Russia’s military past, the city of Moscow, as well as fifteen-minute VJing to music and songs of the war years.

One of the video mapping works, “Designers of Victory,” is dedicated to the designers who glorified Russia. Their inventions became an achievement of world technical thought, and their participation in solving problems of creating defense equipment brought the victory of the Russian people closer in the Great Patriotic War. The light show consists of three parts dedicated to the navy, air force, armored vehicles and automobiles.

Second light show about Moscow – the heart of Russia. It will tell you how the lands and territories around the capital grew and united over the centuries. The Ostankino Ponds area, Tsaritsyno Park, Teatralnaya Square, Stroginskaya Poima, as well as the Mir theater and concert hall and the Digital October center will become the main auditoriums of the festival.

Architectural video mapping - projection volumetric images on city buildings and structures - can be seen on the Ostankino Tower, which this year celebrates its half-century anniversary.

Ostankino tower

One of the main venues of the Moscow International Festival “Circle of Light” will be the Ostankino Tower. On September 23, from 20:00 to 21:15, the opening ceremony of the festival took place here.

A stunning musical and multimedia show took place on the Ostankino Tower and the surface of the Ostankino Pond using video projection, fountain choreography, and the synergy of light, lasers and fire.

With the help of modern water and pyrotechnic technologies, as well as the magic of light and music, viewers will be transported to the fabulous Lavender fields, to the foot of Niagara Falls, in the heart of Yellow Stone Park and the Bamboo Flute Cave, will experience the heat of the Sahara Desert or the refreshing breeze of the Great Barrier Reef, will witness the mesmerizing power of Mount Fuji, the immense depth of Lake Baikal, the endless beauty of the Ural Mountains and the captivating charm of Sakhalin Island.

As part of the festival, the Ostankino TV tower, 540 meters high, will alternately turn into the Eiffel Tower (300 meters), the Dubai skyscraper Burj Khalifa (828 meters) and the New York Empire State Building (443 meters), as well as the Toronto TV tower (553 meters ), Shanghai (486 meters), Tokyo (332 meters) and Sydney (309 meters).

This year, Theater Square united two buildings at once - the Bolshoi and Maly Theaters. A unique light show was developed especially for this, where the interaction of two facades will become part of one love story.

In addition, the site will host a screening of works from the beloved ARTVISION competition. Participants from all over the world will demonstrate new works of light art to the audience at the Bolshoi Theater in the Classic category and at the Maly Theater in the Modern category.

On the facades of the Bolshoi and Maly theaters from September 23 to 27, from 19:30 to 23:00, a light show based on several works performed on their stages will be shown. Viewers will see fragments of plays by classics of Russian literature - Alexander Ostrovsky, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov and others.

Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve

From September 23 to 27, Tsaritsyno Park will appear for visitors in a new fabulous light. Spectators can expect an audiovisual show at the Grand Catherine Palace, a live performance by Turetsky's Soprano art group to the accompaniment of light and music, a mesmerizing show of fountains on Tsaritsynsky Pond and amazing light installations.

In “Tsaritsyno” you can admire the show on all festival days dancing fountains. Water jets will be illuminated using special installations. The musical background of the performance will be works from the repertoire of Mikhail Glinka, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Prokofiev and other Russian composers.

Also on September 24, the art group Soprano will perform for guests of Tsaritsyno Park. Participants unique project Mikhail Turetsky will be accompanied with his vocals by spectacular video projections on the building of one of the palaces. And from September 25 to 27, Soprano will be performed in recording.

The best light installations will add additional colorful touches to Tsaritsyno Park famous designers from all over the world.

Patriarch's Ponds

On Patriarch's Ponds On September 25 from 20:30 to 21:30 Dmitry Malikov will perform his own works on the piano. Romantic music and elegant video images on the facade of the yellow pavilion on the pond will create a harmonious light and music composition.

Strogino

On September 27, in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater, at the end of the Moscow International Festival “Circle of Light”, for the first time in Russia, spectators will be treated to a large-scale 30-minute pyrotechnic show from Japanese manufacturers.

Spectators can expect a bright and unforgettable 30-minute Japanese pyrotechnic show, which has no analogues in Russia. Hundreds of pyrotechnic charges will be launched from four barges installed in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater, the largest of which, 600 mm caliber, has never been presented in Russia before.

Japanese fireworks are unique in their properties and have no analogues in the world. They surpass other fireworks in their color and brightness, and the manual production process, passed down from time immemorial, makes each projectile a true work of art.

Digital October

From year to year, the Digital October platform remains a constant meeting place for famous professionals in the field of visual art and aspiring light artists.

An educational program consisting of lectures, seminars and practical exercises helps beginners master the basics and reveals many secrets and subtleties in working with light.

On September 23 and 24, the center will host educational lectures by lighting designers and creators of laser installations. Admission is free subject to pre-registration on the festival website.

Concert Hall "MIR"

On September 24, the “Art Vision VJ” competition will take place at the “Mir” theater and concert hall on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. Teams from different countries compete in the skill of creating light images to music.

Spectators will witness a competitive competition of the best light and music artists in the direction of VJing. Participants will demonstrate 10-minute VJ sets, where in real time performed music will create completely new works using unexpected visual images and video clips.

The international festival “Circle of Light” has been taking place in Moscow since 2011, and every year more and more guests come to see it: if in 2011 there were 200 thousand people, then in 2016 there were already 6 million. There are also more and more performances, and their level is ever higher: last year on the facade of the main building of Moscow State University. M. Lomonosov, in particular, two new shows were presented, which had no analogues in the world in terms of scale and technical complexity. The Moscow International Festival “Circle of Light” has set records and is already included in the Guinness Book of Records in two categories: “Largest video projection” (50,458 sq. m) and “Largest luminous flux power when projecting an image” (4,264,346 lumens).

The finale of this year's Circle of Light festival will be a grand fireworks display. On this occasion in the Stroginskaya floodplain the first one will pass Japanese pyrotechnics show in Russia. The festival will end on September 27.
