But his real breakthrough was the series Riverdale, which is now receiving critical acclaim. Viewers celebrate the new look on everything known situations, difficulties in self-acceptance and social interaction of high school students.

About personality development:

From an early age, Cole was involved in voice acting for cartoons and also worked actively in advertising. During his teenage years, he began landing roles in popular Disney series and by 2011, along with his twin brother, he had achieved the status of the highest paid child actors.

After this event, Cole decided to take a break from all the hype and, together with his brother Dylan, entered New York University, and also concentrated on his hobby - photography.

Dylan and I made a conscious decision to step away from the industry for a while. And they entered educational institution, very prestigious, I must say, because they wanted it to be a kind of step towards success. But because we didn’t choose acting or vocals, many people took it negatively, even saw it as a kind of failure, because everyone thinks that actors are not capable of anything else. After the series ended, people literally followed us, so we decided to distance ourselves from the industry and disappear for a while. And we were pleasantly surprised by how often people contacted us to ask where we were and what we were doing.

Cole studied archeology, and Dylan studied video game design. It seemed to both of them that they already had enough acting experience and they didn’t need to spend a few more years on education.

University doesn't teach you how to be smart. This is one of the most important lessons I learned from my NYU experience. You have always had the intelligence that you have. University simply teaches you how to use different arguments. Awareness leads to intelligence and makes you a smart and understanding person. So I guess I got that awareness.

He was prompted to reappear on the screens by a new successful project - the drama series Riverdale. Filming is based on the Archie comics, and even before the pilot was released, it was clear that the plot would attract many fans.

About your hobbies:

Surprisingly, Cole himself calls himself an archaeologist, not an actor, declaring that archeology is the profession that he wants to pursue throughout his life.

I am an archaeologist, I studied archaeology. This is the profession I want to do and how I would like people to see me. Photography was initially just a hobby for me. Then I realized that I could make money from this, and that’s good. This way I can express myself and work in photojournalism at the same time.

It seems strange to him to be called an “artist.” What he considers meaningful is when other photographers recognize him as a photographer, as part of the industry.

Cole loves exploring new places and photographing other people. Sometimes he even sneaks into closed spaces illegally. He has to look for places where no one would recognize him, so he loves uninhabited areas.

If you came with me to explore new places, it is likely that it would be a little scary.

It can be inspired by any photo on Instagram.

My biggest inspiration is from people my age who I work with or photograph. They really helped me develop my style. No one is completely individual, that is simply impossible. Everyone works with something that already exists and creates their own work based on it.

In addition, he worries that people will not look for sexual connotations in his work - as a guy, he photographs beautiful girls.

About freedom:

New cover and interview for #ASOS magazine. Sell lemonade, earn cash, and then spend it all on this publication. Send a magazine to your enemies, send a magazine to your friends, fold me into origami swans, it doesn't matter because it's too late, you've contributed to capitalism.

He openly talks about many things that are still considered taboo in our society. For example, about the importance of revealing different sexuality in cinema.

There's nothing he won't post about on social media because he's afraid of being judged, whether it's discussing erections or joking about how his twin has a brain the size of a nut.

Sometimes before I leave home, I wave goodbye to my laptop camera just to make an FBI agent's day better. Friendliness is contagious, you know.

Jokes aside, he's also outspoken on politics, speaking out about the need for net neutrality, and supporting women in the #metoo movement.

Birthday August 04, 1992

American actors, best known for their roles as twins in the series “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “The Suite Life on Deck”

Biography

The twins were born in the Italian city of Arezzo, where their parents Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright taught English language in Tuscany. Dylan was named after poet Dylan Thomas, and Cole was named after jazz singer and pianist Nat King Cole. Dylan is 15 minutes older than his brother.

Four months later, the family returned to America, Long Beach (California). In 1997, their parents divorced, and the brothers remained to live with their father and stepmother.

The brothers got their first acting experience thanks to their grandmother, who was an actress in her youth. The first major and conscious acting experience was a role in the film “Big Daddy”, where twins played the same character (in accordance with the widespread practice in the United States of inviting twin children to play one role, which allows overcoming legal restrictions on the length of a filming day for a child) . After that, they played several more small roles, and real success came after the roles of Zack and Cody in the teen series “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” in 2005. After successful three seasons, the sequel “Everything is tip top, or life on board” started, where the brothers were also assigned the main roles.

Personal life

The brothers live in Los Angeles, along with his father, stepmother and three dogs.

Dylan is studying acting in New York, Cole is learning French and plans to actively pursue an acting career.

In 2005, they registered the Sprouse Bros trademark, under which they produce a line of teenage clothing. Based on the TV series with their participation, a series of books was published, as well as a series detective works"47 R.O.N.I.N", which tells about the adventures of two brothers Tom and Mitch.

Cole Mitchell Sprouse is an American artist, the adoration of millions of young viewers, star of the Disney Channel and the series “Riverdale”, winner of the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, twin brother of Dylan Thomas Sprouse.

What made him famous was Disney’s positive sitcom, “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” which became the most popular television project for teenagers and children, where he and his brother played the roles of key characters. By the late 2000s, they had become the richest twin teen actors in the world, earning $40,000 per episode, according to MSN.

Childhood. First roles

Cole Sprouse was born 15 minutes later than his brother Dylan on August 4, 1992 in the town of Arezzo, located in Tuscany. Their parents are Americans with Scottish, Danish and German roots who worked in Italy school teachers in English. The older twin was named after the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, and the younger twin was named after the American jazz pianist Nat King Cole.

4 months after the boys were born, they returned to their home in the United States, located in Long Beach, California.

The naturally sweet little ones' careers began thanks to their maternal grandmother, Janine Booth Wright, a former actress and teacher. She gave the idea to attract them literally from the cradle to the field of show business. At 6 months old, the brothers appeared on television in an advertisement for diapers, and at 8, in a highly rated project on the ABC channel “Grace on Fire,” where they played the same character, Patrick Kelly.

It is worth noting that twin babies are in great demand in the American film industry due to the law regulating the length of filming of newborns. To reduce the cost of the filming process, the twin who has worked his daily quota is replaced by another. This is exactly how the most famous twins of the 90s, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, began their careers.

In 1997, when the boys were 5 years old, their parents divorced. The children stayed with their father.

Career of a young actor

At the age of 7, Cole made his debut in a big movie - it was the comedy film “Big Daddy”, where he and his brother alternated playing the role of their peer named Julian. Presented in the picture Touching story about the friendship and growing up of an infantile 32-year-old man (Adam Sandler) and a 5-year-old boy, although it received mixed reviews from critics, it was an unconditional box office success, starting with an amount of 41.5 million in the first weekend of film distribution and eventually collecting more than $230 million with a 34 million budget. In addition, the film was nominated for numerous film awards. Among them: the Children's Choice awards, recognition of all viewers (People's Choice Awards) and exclusively teenagers (Teen Choice Awards).

Then young talents played the children of the main characters - Spencer Armacost (Johnny Depp) and his wife Gillian (Charlize Theron) - in the science fiction film "The Astronaut's Wife". They also appeared in small episodes of the TV series “Nightmare Room”, “That 70s Show”, “Mad TV”, “Anatomy of Vice”.

Since 2001, Cole (no longer with his brother) has played Ben, the five-year-old son of Ross (David Schwimmer) and his lesbian ex-wife Carol (Jane Sibbett) in the acclaimed TV series Friends.

Cole Sprouse in the TV series "Friends"

It is believed that the role in this television project, which earned a Golden Globe and six Emmy awards during its run, became key in the career of the aspiring actor. According to him, during filming it was terribly difficult for him to concentrate, he was nervous and confused the text because he fell in love with Jennifer Aniston, who played Ross's lover Rachel Green. Besides her on film set he was lucky enough to work with many Hollywood stars who were part of the ensemble cast of the series, including Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc.

In 2002, the guys appeared in the comedy film “I Saw Mom Kissing Santa Claus.” Cole embodied the image of a boy who saw his mother kiss Santa after a quarrel with his dad. He knew that Father Christmas only comes to good kids, therefore, so that he would no longer come to their house, the boy decided to become bad.

In the same year, fans of the brothers could see their favorites in the comedy “Master of Disguise,” where they played the main character Pistachio in his youth. They then voiced the soldiers from the K B Toys store in animated film“Eight Crazy Nights,” based on the script by Adam Sandler, their idol.

In 2003, the film “Blow, Another Blow” was released. According to the plot, their heroes, football boys, want to win the local championship football league. When their father, the team coach, leaves and is not very successfully replaced in this position by his mother, they find her an assistant, auto mechanic Rudy. Later it turns out that he is actually... famous football player George Patrick Owens.

With the release of the Disney comedy project “Everything Is Top, or the Suite Life of Zack and Cody” in 2005, the twin brothers were expected to be a resounding success. They played tomboys living in a luxurious Boston hotel (his English name Tipton is an allusion to the Hilton), where their mother Carey (Kim Rhodes) works as a singer. Their characters often find themselves in various sticky situations and come up with witty ideas to avoid trouble.

The sequel had a sequel - “Everything is tip top, or Life on board” (2008-2011), where the characters of the brothers were again at the center of events. A full-length film and a series of comics were released based on the TV series “All Tips.” On the wave of success, they launched the Sprouse Bros brand line of teenage clothing. The young actors appeared on the cover of the April 2009 People magazine, which featured a special 60-page publication about the twins and their participation in this project. Cole was appointed International Ambassador of the KIF - Shin Koyamada Foundation, an American actor of Japanese descent.

In 2006, the dramatic film “Chicks” was shown. The brothers alternately played the role of Jeremiah, the 10-year-old son of a negligent mother, a prostitute and a drug addict. Because of her, he starved, ate scraps from a trash can, and was raped by one of her clients. The acting of the Sprouse brothers in this film especially impressed the audience and critics - before that they had not had to play multi-faceted characters with a complex fate.

The film “The Prince and the Pauper”, released in 2007, did not leave many viewers indifferent. Modern history", where Cole got the role of Eddie Tudor, a 13-year-old actor with a bad character, spoiled by fame. He meets an orphan like Tom Canty, who is, of course, played by Dylan. Teenagers change into each other's clothes, and a lot of surprises fall on them, pleasant and not so pleasant.

In 2009, Cole and his brother starred in the comedy “The Kings of Appletown,” based on “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain and telling how their characters became unwitting witnesses to a murder. After their friend's innocent father is accused of this crime, they decide to restore justice and set out to find the real killer.

During the same period, Sprouse played in the youth sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place, where the main roles went to Selena Gomez, David Henry, Jack T Austin and Maria Canals-Barrera.

In 2010, the brothers became the “faces” of Dannon Danimals children's yogurt and the Nintendo DS portable game console.

Education and future path

In June 2010, Cole graduated from Laurel Springs Distance Learning High School. In 2011, he entered (along with his brother) New York University (NYU), where he studied archeology and anthropology (Dylan preferred graphic design for computer games).

During his first year at NYU, while hiking and on expeditions, Cole took up photography. Then he began collaborating as a photographer with one of the main international modeling agencies, IMG Models.

Cole Sprouse Interview

In connection with his studies, he took a break from his acting career, noting that he considers moving to New York an amazing event that allowed him to understand how spoiled he was, reevaluate his achievements and really feel daily self-realization.

The press called the brothers' story not typical of Hollywood, in in a good way words. After all, often creative people in the quest for self-knowledge, they go through a passion for alcohol, drugs, try to express themselves through demonstrating wild antics, indecent selfies, statements about bisexuality, etc. But all this is not about the Sprouse brothers.

Career

Laurel Springs School

The Sprouse brothers began their careers in film and television early, at 8 months to be exact, thanks to their grandmother, Joneen Booth Wright, an actress and drama teacher. Moreover, the brothers always played either together, or even the same role for two.

Among the roles that Cole Sprouse shared with his brother early in his career: the role of Patrick Kelly in the television series Grace on Fire (1993-1998), the role of Julian in the 1999 film Big Daddy and little Pistachio Disguise in the comedy film The Master reincarnation." In addition to Big Daddy with Adam Sandler, in 1999 Cole played in the film The Astronaut's Wife with Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron. In 2001, Cole began appearing in episodes of the television series Friends as Ross Geller's son, Ben. This was the first role where he was not dubbed by his brother. In 2005, he played the role of Cody Martin in the Disney Channel television series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, where his brother Dylan played Zack Martin. The series received significant fame and a number of sequels, and Zack and Cody made cameo appearances in a number of others. television projects

(such as "Wizards of Waverly Place" and "Hannah Montana"). However, in 2011 they announced a break from acting career

and attending New York University, where Cole focused on archeology and other humanities. After graduating from university (in 2015), both brothers returned to their film careers, but now each separately.

In March 2019, the film “Five Feet Apart” will premiere in the United States, starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson. In Russia, the film company Volga acquired the rights to show the film.

In an interview dedicated to Jughead, Cole said that he had been familiar with Archie comics since childhood, although he admitted that they were not his favorite reading. His Jughead, unlike the one in the comics, is less passionate about food. However, according to Cole, he tries to chew something small in each episode to remind his character of this hobby.

The most interesting thing was the situation with Jughead Jones's headdress. Archie comics began in the early 1940s, and Jughead wore a felt hat with a zig-zag cut and raised brim, the so-called "Whoopee cap", popular in the pre-war years. Over the years of publication of the comic, this headdress completely fell out of use and became associated only with Jughead. In the series, Jughead wears a modern wool hat, but the brim is cut and folded in the same way as it was from the beginning. Cole Sprouse says, “The beanie (Cole calls it a beanie crown) seemed more modern and more appropriate for the show. They are still connected. It's still weird. It’s a completely different hat, but the essence remains the same.”

The selection of actors turned out to be successful - the series received overall positive reviews, and both leading actors were awarded awards. Cole Sprouse received the Teen Choice Awards for 2017 in two categories at once for his role as Jughead Jones - “ Best Actor Drama Series" and "Best On-Screen Couple" (shared with Lili Reinhart).

Personal life

Since 2017, Cole has been dating his Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart.

  • Cole has been snowboarding since he was 4 years old.
  • He attended New York University at the same time as Camila Mendes, his Riverdale co-star. However, at that time they were strangers.

The brothers live in Los Angeles with their father and stepmother. The twins have three dogs in their family: Bubba (a bulldog), who belongs to Dylan and Cole, Pinky, their father, and Curry (a French bulldog), their stepmother. In mid-2010, Dylan launched a website for his art called Sprouse Arts, and in mid-2011, Cole launched a website for his photography called Cole Sprouse Photography.

In 2010, the twin brothers were both accepted into New York University. Their original plan was to attend the university in the fall of 2010, but they postponed it by one year. Dylan originally planned to enter the faculty of fine arts and a minor in economics while Cole planned to major in film and television production and a minor in drama. Instead, they both enrolled in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, which allows students to plan their own curriculum. Cole focuses his program on humanities and archeology while Dylan focuses on video game design.

Excerpt characterizing Sprouse, Dylan and Cole

The unknown general looked contemptuously down at the short Kozlovsky, as if surprised that he might not be known.
“The general in chief is busy,” Kozlovsky repeated calmly.
The general's face frowned, his lips twitched and trembled. He took out notebook, quickly drew something with a pencil, tore out the piece of paper, gave it away, with quick steps he went to the window, threw his body on a chair and looked around at those in the room, as if asking: why are they looking at him? Then the general raised his head, craned his neck, as if intending to say something, but immediately, as if casually starting to hum to himself, he made a strange sound, which immediately stopped. The door to the office opened, and Kutuzov appeared on the threshold. A general with a bandaged head, as if running away from danger, bending over, with large, fast steps skinny legs approached Kutuzov.
“Vous voyez le malheureux Mack, [You see the unfortunate Mack.],” he said in a broken voice.
The face of Kutuzov, standing in the doorway of the office, remained completely motionless for several moments. Then, like a wave, a wrinkle ran across his face, his forehead smoothed out; He bowed his head respectfully, closed his eyes, silently let Mac pass by him and closed the door behind himself.
The rumor, already spread before, about the defeat of the Austrians and the surrender of the entire army at Ulm, turned out to be true. Half an hour later, adjutants were sent in different directions with orders proving that soon the Russian troops, which had hitherto been inactive, would have to meet the enemy.
Prince Andrei was one of those rare officers at the headquarters who believed his main interest was in the general course of military affairs. Having seen Mack and heard the details of his death, he realized that half of the campaign was lost, understood the difficulty of the position of the Russian troops and vividly imagined what awaited the army, and the role that he would have to play in it.
Involuntarily, he experienced an exciting, joyful feeling at the thought of disgracing arrogant Austria and the fact that in a week he might have to see and take part in a clash between the Russians and the French, for the first time since Suvorov.
But he was afraid of the genius of Bonaparte, who could be stronger than all the courage of the Russian troops, and at the same time could not allow shame for his hero.
Excited and irritated by these thoughts, Prince Andrei went to his room to write to his father, to whom he wrote every day. He met in the corridor with his roommate Nesvitsky and the joker Zherkov; They, as always, laughed at something.
-Why are you so gloomy? – Nesvitsky asked, noticing the pale face of Prince Andrei with sparkling eyes.
“There’s no point in having fun,” Bolkonsky answered.
While Prince Andrei met with Nesvitsky and Zherkov, on the other side of the corridor, Strauch, an Austrian general who was at Kutuzov’s headquarters to monitor the food supply of the Russian army, and a member of the Gofkriegsrat, who had arrived the day before, walked towards them. There was enough space along the wide corridor for the generals to freely disperse with three officers; but Zherkov, pushing Nesvitsky away with his hand, said in a breathless voice:
- They're coming!... they're coming!... move aside! please the way!
The generals passed by with an air of desire to get rid of bothersome honors. The face of the joker Zherkov suddenly expressed a stupid smile of joy, which he seemed unable to contain.
“Your Excellency,” he said in German, moving forward and addressing the Austrian general. – I have the honor to congratulate you.
He bowed his head and awkwardly, like children learning to dance, began to shuffle first with one foot and then with the other.
The general, a member of the Gofkriegsrat, looked sternly at him; without noticing the seriousness of the stupid smile, he could not refuse a moment’s attention. He narrowed his eyes to show that he was listening.
“I have the honor to congratulate you, General Mack has arrived, he’s completely healthy, he just got a little hurt here,” he added, beaming with a smile and pointing to his head.
The general frowned, turned away and walked on.
– Gott, wie naiv! [My God, how simple it is!] - he said angrily, walking away a few steps.
Nesvitsky hugged Prince Andrei with laughter, but Bolkonsky, turning even paler, with an angry expression on his face, pushed him away and turned to Zherkov. The nervous irritation into which the sight of Mack, the news of his defeat and the thought of what awaited the Russian army led him, found its outcome in anger at Zherkov’s inappropriate joke.
“If you, dear sir,” he spoke shrilly with a slight trembling of his lower jaw, “want to be a jester, then I cannot prevent you from doing so; but I declare to you that if you dare to act up in my presence next time, I will teach you how to behave.
Nesvitsky and Zherkov were so surprised by this outburst that they silently looked at Bolkonsky with their eyes open.
“Well, I just congratulated,” said Zherkov.
– I’m not joking with you, please remain silent! - Bolkonsky shouted and, taking Nesvitsky by the hand, walked away from Zherkov, who could not find what to answer.
“Well, what are you talking about, brother,” Nesvitsky said calmingly.
- Like what? - Prince Andrei spoke, stopping from excitement. - Yes, you must understand that we are either officers who serve our tsar and fatherland and rejoice at the common success and are sad about the common failure, or we are lackeys who do not care about the master’s business. [Forty thousand people died and the army allied to us was destroyed, and you can joke at the same time. This Forgivable to an insignificant boy like this gentleman whom you made your friend, but not to you, not to you.] Boys can only have fun like that,” said Prince Andrei in Russian, pronouncing this word with a French accent, noticing that Zherkov could still hear his.
He waited to see if the cornet would answer. But the cornet turned and left the corridor.
