Home puppet theater is a fun and entertaining pastime that helps both adults and children open up creatively. Especially if you make characters with your own hands. Try to revive the well-known children's fairy tale by Charles Perrault "Little Red Riding Hood" by making own collection. Below are suggested implementation options puppet theater.
This small master class will tell you how to make Little Red Riding Hood out of paper. The dolls are presented here in two versions: for an adult hand and for children's fingers. This is done for ease of play, because a large toy can fall from a child’s hand.
To work you need to print ready-made templates in color. There are six dolls in total:
- Little Red Riding Hood;
- Mother;
- grandmother;
- wolf;
- a wolf disguised as a grandmother;
- forest hunter.
How to do it?
- Everything is done quite simply, and even a child can do it. First you need to carefully cut out the blanks of all the characters along the contour. Be careful not to wrinkle the paper.
- Wrap the bottom part of the figures in the form of a green rectangle around your finger, but not too tightly. Remove the doll from your finger, grease one end of the rectangle with PVA glue, and press it to the other. Hold firmly for a while so that the part sticks well. The result is vibrant characters.

Tabletop version of the theater

- Take the bottom parts of the figures and roll them into a cone. Grease the shaded area with PVA glue, apply to the opposite edge, and press well.
- Bend the upper parts (head and neck) in half along the indicated contour. Glue the head together, then apply glue to the remaining part of the upper part, insert the prepared lower cone of the doll into it and gently press down.
- The base is ready, all that remains is to glue the handles in front, the tail for the wolf in the back, the gun for the hunter, the sock she knits for the grandmother, and the basket for the granddaughter.
- This set also includes decorations: a bed with a headboard. An integral attribute of a fairy tale must be bent in the places indicated on the template and the corners glued together. This should be the legs of the bed. Glue the bed and the backrest to each other using the shaded areas. Collect a fence, a bush, a bird at will.
When all the characters and scenery have dried well, you can sit down comfortably, pick up a book (or better yet, learn the words in advance) and start playing Little Red Riding Hood theater with your baby.
A fairy tale from improvised means
The creation of the Little Red Riding Hood puppet theater can be made not only from paper. Try to use what you have at hand. For example, used plastic bottles. Here you need to be creative, because the workpiece will have to be decorated. The following materials will be needed:
- plastic bottles with a volume of 0.5-1 liters according to the number of characters;
- hair yarn;
- braid or satin ribbon;
- scissors;
- gouache, brushes, varnish, simple pencil;
- PVA glue;
- colored cardboard and velvet paper.
This master class will describe the step-by-step manufacturing process main character- Little Red Riding Hood. The rest of the characters are made by analogy.
How to do it:
- You can start by creating a hairstyle for the doll. To do this, wrap yarn around the middle ruler along its entire length about 15-16 times. Remove the winding, tie it in the middle, tighten the knot tightly, and cut the ends.
- Take a clean bottle and cut it crosswise so that the top is slightly smaller than the bottom. This is the future head and body of the doll.
- On a sheet of velvet paper and on a piece of cardboard, draw (you can use a template) circles with a diameter of 10-15 cm. In the middle of these blanks for the hat, draw a circle - circle the bottle cap. Cut holes along this contour, and then glue the parts together.
- Take the doll's hair, bend it in half, and insert the tied part into the neck of the cut bottle. Put a hat on top of your hair (that’s why they cut it according to the diameter of the cap).
- The top of the hair, which is above the hat, should be wrapped with braid or satin ribbon. Paint the top of the bottle with white gouache and let dry. Then with a simple pencil draw a face: eyes, nose, lips.
- Use multi-colored gouache paints to draw the doll's face. After this, insert the bottom part of the bottle into the finished head. Now you can color the body as you wish. You can draw a red skirt, and on top a white apron - what Little Red Riding Hood traditionally wears. Draw the shoes below. For better durability, you can coat the product with acrylic varnish.
