From October 30 to November 8, 2015, the II Russian Festival will be held at the Central House of Artists in Moscow. Geographical Society. Its exhibitions will be built according to the principle of natural zones: the Arctic and tundra, steppes and subtropics, mountains, forests, oceans, seas and rivers. Thanks to this, every visitor will be able to find himself in a place in Russia that he has not yet visited. Those who do not know the geography of our country very well, and everyone who is experts on it, will receive a lot of impressions and new knowledge. Participants can attend the festival with prior accreditation.

The festival will begin right at the entrance to the Central House of Artists. A 13-meter ship, White's rescue whaleboat from the 19th century, will be moored on the site in front of the building. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it was built by the hands of Vologda schoolchildren - guys from the "Shipbuilders of Prionezhye" club.

Next to the man-made vessel will be located the legendary Russian amphibious vehicle “Emelya”, thanks to which in 2009 the participants of the Sea Ice Automobile Expedition set a world record. Then our compatriots drove “Emela-1” and “Emela-2” on the floating ice of the Arctic Ocean and for the first time in history reached the North Pole in cars.

But even modern technologies in arctic conditions cannot replace best friend person. Therefore, Siberian huskies will also greet festival guests. This is perhaps the most reliable and reliable means of transportation in the North. Everyone will be able to communicate with the dogs, which were released from Arctic service especially for the guests of the Russian Geographical Society festival and sent “on vacation” to the capital.

IN steppe zone Special master classes on archeology are organized for festival guests. Everything will be almost real: sand, archaeological tools and unique artifacts from real expeditions.

In addition, archeology lovers will be able to learn about the dead city of Khara-Khoto in China - these are the ruins of the fortified city of Edzin. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was discovered by the famous Russian researcher, honorary member of the Russian Geographical Society Pyotr Kuzmich Kozlov.

Festival visitors will learn about how they live red book animals. In each of the natural zones you will be able to enter the habitat of a predator or mammal and immerse yourself in the atmosphere wildlife. We invite you to visit a polar bear, a tiger, a leopard and even a humpback whale!

Peter developed a civil font, taking Lithuanian and Belarusian letters as a basis. Who was the author of this unique publication is still a mystery.

Each day of the festival will be dedicated to a specific topic: ethnography, tourism, expeditions, history, animated films, animal protection, and so on. Throughout the week, visitors will be shown the best documentaries Russian Geographical Society, master classes, lectures, competitions, games.

As part of the RGS Festival there will be an All-Russian geographical dictation. Anyone can take part in the large-scale educational event, which is being held for the first time by the Russian Geographical Society, regardless of age, education and social class.

Also at the site of the Central House of Artists, the winners of the First All-Russian Photo Competition of the Russian Geographical Society will be awarded, in which more than 25 thousand photographers and amateur photographers from all over the world took part. Instead of one winner, the photo competition jury chose 11. This means that the author best photo in each nomination will receive Grand Prize- 500 thousand rubles and participation in the Russian Geographical Society expedition. The names of the lucky winners will be announced at solemn ceremony awards.

From November 3 to 12 in Moscow at the Central House of Artists was held III Festival Russian Geographical Society. In 2017, it was dedicated to the unity and diversity of the peoples of Russia.

More than 30 regions took part in the exhibition and event program Russian Federation, the partners of the project were the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Post", the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology named after N.N. Miklouho-Maclay RAS, Russian Historical Society, Russian military historical society and others.

The total exhibition area of ​​the Festival was more than 6000 m². Its main areas were: "History of the Russian Geographical Society", "Dwellings of the Peoples of Russia", " Folk costumes", "Fires and crafts of Russia", "Holidays, rituals and games of the peoples of Russia", "Fairytale forest", photo exhibition of the winners and finalists of the competition "The Most beautiful country" 2017, as well as the partner zone.

Guests of the holiday met traditional dwellings of the peoples of Russia: we looked into a Russian hut, a Caucasian house and a Cossack hut, visited a yurt from Bashkiria, a real plague of Tuvinians-Todzha and a Chukotka yaranga. Visitors got acquainted with authentic household items of the Amur Evenks and other peoples, learned what a tur-yurgan and a pastovets are, and saw what materials they use and how they build houses in different parts of our country.

The costumes of the peoples of Russia were presented at the Festival. The guests saw the traditional costumes of the residents North Caucasus, the Urals and the Volga region, the North, Siberia and the Far East, learned about the purpose and features of the ornament, cut and silhouette of each costume - from the Koryak kukhlyanka to the traditional outfit of a resident of the village of Balkhar (Republic of Dagestan). Russian costume was shown separately - visitors learned about the difference between the northern and southern costume complexes from the example of women's festive dresses in the Bryansk, Vologda, Voronezh and Ryazan regions.

About when and how to celebrate New Year Chukchi and Tuvans, how wedding traditions followed by the Mansi, what role the hearth plays in the life of the Vainakhs, they told in the “Holidays, rituals and games of the peoples of Russia” zone. A “Glade of Games” was also organized here: everyone took part in the traditional fun of the Tatars, Buryats, Kalmyks, and also, following the long-standing tradition of many peoples of our country, tied a ribbon to the “Tree of Friendship” and made wishes.

On the site dedicated to trades and crafts, guests of the Festival were able to take part in numerous master classes and creative activities: we learned pottery, chenille embroidery, deer antler carving, learned about how Vologda lace and Irkutsk satin stitch are created, got acquainted with the Vepsian traditions of belt weaving, made products from birch bark, a talisman doll and much more.

Throughout the 10 days, guests of the festival were treated to a varied program both in the lecture hall and cinema hall, and on the Festival stage: performances folklore ensembles from all over our country, music and dance master classes, costume demonstrations, meetings with photographers and documentary authors, fascinating lectures by ethnographers and much more.

On May 25, 2017, at the Moscow House of Nationalities, as part of the Year of Ecology in the Russian Federation, the opening ceremony of the annual exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society “The Most Beautiful Country” took place.

The photo competition “The Most Beautiful Country” is a large-scale media project aimed at preserving the nature of Russia and educating careful attitude To environment through art. 23 thousand domestic and foreign photographers took part in the creative competition, who sent about 110 thousand photographs.

The exhibition at the Moscow House of Nationalities presents 43 best works, which depict the peaks of mountains and the depths of the seas, the sun of the south and the endless snow of the north, ancient cities, inhabitants of the country different ages, professions and nationalities.

Among the guests of honor at the event were Deputy Executive director for project and information activities Ilya Anatolyevich Gurov - chairman of the jury of the "The Most Beautiful Country" competition, Russian wildlife photographer Sergei Gorshkov, member of the Expert Commission of the "Most Beautiful Country" photo competition Viktor Tyakht and many others.

The director of the Moscow House of Nationalities, Vladimir Borisovich Tarasov, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He noted that in the Year of Ecology we must take special care to preserve the natural wealth of our country, make every effort to develop the vibrant and original cultures of the peoples of the Russian Federation, promote the strengthening of interethnic peace, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding.
