Akathist to the guardian angel read large. Akathist to the Guardian Angel

  • 13.01.2024

Do you dream of love? Want to finally find your other half? Are you waiting for your loved one to propose marriage? Then this note is for you!

Millions of Orthodox believers pray together to the Lord for the fulfillment of certain requests. Often Christians are united by the same problem, so people pray together for a solution.

Many believers (men and women, young and not so young) dream of starting a family. And who should we turn to with a request for help in meeting a loved one or consolidating an existing relationship with marital ties, if not God?

You can (and should) pray privately. But it’s better to unite with thousands of Christians who want to achieve the same goal!

Thanks to prayer by agreement, Evgenia from Samara met her loved one and started a family with him!

Feedback from Evgenia from Samara: “Through prayer, I created an Orthodox family!”

In the summer of 2013, I broke up (extremely painfully) with a man. Got all my nerves out. It was very difficult psychologically. My mother suggested that (on the advice of a friend) I go to Bolgar to visit my father. I didn’t care where to go, so we went. The impression is indescribable. I just showed a photo of my ex, and the priest immediately said that we would not make peace, that there would be another, but not him. We left. I burst into tears right in the church, and that’s it... EVERYTHING IS GONE! It's as if it never happened.

We left there with such a light heart, inspired, I began to look at many things completely differently. My father gave me his blessing to read the akathist to the Guardian Angel on Mondays. For me it was so new, strange, unusual, but I began to diligently do everything as told.

At the same time, we started communicating with one guy on the Internet. No romance, just communication. I told him about the trip. We agreed in absentia to go together to the next sermon (his father was very ill). Well, we decided to meet a little earlier. That's how I met my current husband. Attentive, affectionate, hard-working, interesting, well-mannered, beautiful... The list is endless!))

We went to the sermon, as planned. True, we received permission to drive behind the bus with pilgrims (they were carrying a small load). We listened to the sermon together, held hands and were happy - happy!!! I continue to read the akathist, I am grateful to God, Father Vladimir, mother, organizers... everyone - everyone! I remember past failures like a terrible and strange dream. I would like to wish everyone the same great happiness! God bless you!

You can join the prayer regarding the agreement to create a family.

Sincerely,
team of the portal Pravzhizn.rf

Every person, according to Orthodox and Catholic canons, has a guardian angel. A guardian angel is a good spirit in Christianity, which is given to a person after baptism for help.

If a believer maintains love for God and does not sin, then the guardian angel protects and helps, and after death takes the soul of the deceased person to eternity. A person cannot personally know the name of his guardian angel, since the guardian angel was created invisible to the eyes of people. There is no day guardian angel for the memory of any particular angel, since their names are not known.

But there is a day of remembrance and veneration of all angelic powers on November 8/20 - the Council of the Archangel Michael. It should not be confused that the day of the angel is the holiday of the saint in whose honor a person is named at baptism. On the day of the angel, the guardian angel is not revered. The Church suggests thanking or asking for a guardian angel in prayers at home.

Believers very often ask for the help of a guardian angel in the hope of receiving protection and patronage. Not only in a difficult situation for a person, but also hoping for patronage, before solving difficult issues and successfully completing the tasks assigned to a person. When they do something good to a person or simply give him what he wanted, the person says “Thank you.” The guardian angel should also not only be asked to help, but thanked for all the matters in which the guardian angel helped, and simply for what the person has at the moment.

There are many ways to give thanks. You can express gratitude not out loud, just in your own words, list what you want to thank for. You can read a prayer from the Prayer Book; the prayer book must be purchased at the church. It is possible to thank your guardian angel at any time convenient for a person. The main thing is to do this with pure thoughts and with a great sense of gratitude.

In Christianity there are special chants in which saints and guardian angels are glorified. These chants are called akathists. The akathists are very long in content; if you can’t sing, you can just read them. Akathist, if translated literally from Greek, is non-seated singing. Non-seated singing is a solemn anthem that is performed standing.

The Akathist to the Guardian Angel can be read not only in church, but also at home, this is welcome. Akathist refers to home prayers. The Akathist can be read even without the blessing of a priest. Before reading the akathist, you need to read all the prayers preceding the akathist, prayers for the morning and for the evening. After the prayers, you can read the akathist itself, the thirteenth kontakion, the first ikos and the first kontakion. At the end of what you have read, you need to read a prayer to your guardian angel.

You can read the akathist to your guardian angel or Archangel Michael, who is the leader of all heavenly forces. When reading an akathist, you need to associate it with yourself. Akathist to the guardian angel when the person himself chooses to read, the main thing is to follow all the rules for reading prayers before the akathist. Guardian angels are always next to a person; if a person behaves unrighteously, a guardian angel sins and can even punish for such behavior and move away from the person.

If a person leads a righteous lifestyle, goes to church, prays for the salvation of his soul, reads akafests, or simply thanks his guardian angel with all his heart, then the guardian angel becomes even closer to the person and his help will be much stronger. There are no differences between men and women in reading akafests, everything is done the same way, the main thing is to comply with all the conditions before reading the akafest.

Before asking your faithful guardian angel for anything, you need to thank for everything that a person has. How to thank your guardian angel is something everyone chooses for themselves.

This article contains: a prayer to your guardian angel about marriage - information taken from all over the world, the electronic network and spiritual people.

To keep me from God from heaven, I diligently pray to You, enlighten me today and save me from all evil in good deeds and guide me on the path of salvation to the Angel, my good Guardian!

Help me not to deceive, not to flatter, and not to judge any of my neighbors, the truth of God, and to create the truth in order to receive salvation.

Angel of God, my very Guardian, keep my life in the passion of Christ God, strengthen my mind in the true path and wound my soul to heavenly love, so that we may be guided by you, I will receive great mercy from Christ God.

Holy Angel of Christ, falling to you I pray, my holy guardian, dedicated to me for the preservation of my sinful soul and body from holy baptism, but with my laziness and my evil custom I angered your most pure lordship and drove you away from me with all the cold deeds: lies, slander , envy, condemnation, contempt, disobedience, brotherly hatred and resentment, love of money, adultery, rage, stinginess, gluttony without satiety and drunkenness, verbosity, evil thoughts and crafty ones, proud custom and lustful infuriation, self-lust for every carnal lust, oh my evil arbitrariness, even beasts without words do not do it!

How can you look at me, or approach me like a stinking dog?

Whose eyes, Angel of Christ, look upon me, entangled in evil in vile deeds?

How can I ask for forgiveness for my bitter, evil and crafty deeds, I fall into misery all day and night and at every hour?

But I pray to you, falling down, my holy guardian, have mercy on me, a sinful and unworthy servant of yours (name), be my helper and intercessor against the evil of my opponent, with your holy prayers, and make me a partaker of the Kingdom of God with all the saints, always, and now, and ever and ever.

Holy Angel, more wretched than my soul and more passionate than my life, do not forsake me, a sinner, nor depart from me for my intemperance.

Do not give room to the evil demon to possess me through the violence of this mortal body;

strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation.

To her, holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my accursed soul and body, forgive me everything, I have offended you so greatly all the days of my life, and if I sinned this past night, cover me on this day, and save me from every opposite temptation May I not anger God in any sin, and pray for me to the Lord, that He may strengthen me in His passion, and show me worthy as a servant of His goodness.

Prayers for a quick marriage

Prayer-conspiracy from the crown of celibacy:

Guardian angel, deliverer from all troubles, remove the black veil from me, give me a henbane veil, guide my betrothed on my path.

There are icons and saints who need to be addressed in this case, always believing that the prayer will be heard.

If you seriously decide to beg God for a happy marriage, then it would be nice if you read the short lives of these saints, read about the icons and monasteries in which they are located. Then choose your intercessor before God, the one who is closest to your soul and pray fervently.

What is the correct way to pray to these saints? You can pray at home, in church or on pilgrimage trips. For home prayers, buy a complete prayer book from any Orthodox church, which contains not only morning and evening prayers with the rule for communion, but also prayers to saints and icons of the Mother of God, as well as akathists.

Purchase small icons of the saints to whom you plan to pray from an icon shop. This is very important - all icons purchased in the temple are consecrated. In a church or monastery, you should order a prayer service with an akathist to the saint and, if possible, personally stand at this prayer service.

An akathist is a prayer of praise to a specific saint or icon of the Mother of God. There are akathists to virtually all saints and most icons of the Virgin Mary. Among them there are well-known and rarer ones. The texts of the main akathists can always be bought in the church. You can also order a prayer service periodically, for example once a month. Do not forget that regular and sincere prayer will never go unheard.

Find an akathist to a saint or saints and read it at home in front of the icon, as often as you can, for example once a week, and the prayer can be read daily. In all large monasteries and Lavras there are icons of St. Nicholas and St. Catherine with particles of the relics of the saints. Venerate them, but even if the icon is without relics, church prayer is still very powerful.

It will be simply wonderful if you can visit where icons with particles of relics are brought. Miraculous icons are also often brought. Find out when the shrine will be brought to your city and be sure to go to this temple. Do not forget about church holidays on which the Mother of God and the saints are traditionally asked for marriage, for example, the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A girl's prayer for marriage

Oh, All-Good Lord, I know that my great happiness depends on the fact that I love You with all my soul and with all my heart, and that I fulfill Your holy will in everything. Rule Yourself, O my God, over my soul and fill my heart: I want to please You Alone, for You are the Creator and my God. Save me from pride and self-love: let reason, modesty and chastity adorn me. Idleness is disgusting to You and gives rise to vices, give me the desire to work hard and bless my labors. Since Your Law commands people to live in an honest marriage, then lead me, Holy Father, to this title, sanctified by You, not to please my lust, but to fulfill Your destiny, for You Yourself said: it is not good for man to be alone and, having created He gave him a wife to help him, blessed them to grow, multiply and populate the earth. Hear my humble prayer, sent to You from the depths of a girl’s heart; give me an honest and pious spouse, so that in love with him and in harmony we glorify You, the merciful God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen

Great Martyr Catherine about marriage

Great Martyr Paraskeva Friday

Paraskeva, having matured, took a vow of celibacy, devoting herself to serving the Christian faith. They also pray to her for good suitors.

To the old parent. . . Last night you gave the bundles three melting gold. With the help of these bundles of gold, the poor father's daughters were married off.

O our good shepherd and God-wise mentor, Saint Nicholas of Christ! Hear us sinners, praying to you and calling for your speedy intercession for help; see us weak, caught from everywhere, deprived of every good and darkened in mind from cowardice; Try, O servant of God, not to leave us in the captivity of sin, so that we may not joyfully become our enemies and not die in our evil deeds. Pray for us, unworthy, to our Creator and Master, to whom you stand with disembodied faces: make our God merciful to us in this life and in the future, so that He will not reward us according to our deeds and the impurity of our hearts, but according to His goodness He will reward us . We trust in your intercession, we boast of your intercession, we call on your intercession for help, and falling to your most holy image, we ask for help: deliver us, servant of Christ, from the evils that come upon us, and tame the waves of passions and troubles that rise up against us, and for the sake of Your holy prayers will not overwhelm us and we will not wallow in the abyss of sin and in the mud of our passions. Pray to Saint Nicholas of Christ, Christ our God, that he may grant us a peaceful life and remission of sins, salvation and great mercy for our souls, now and ever and unto ages of ages.

O great intercessor, the bishop of God, the Most Blessed Nicholas, who shone miracles under the sun, appearing as a quick hearer to those who call upon you, who always precede them and save them, and deliver them, and take them away from all sorts of troubles, from these God-given miracles and gifts of grace! Hear me, unworthy, calling you with faith and bringing you prayer songs; I offer you an intercessor to plead with Christ. Oh, renowned for miracles, saint of heights! as if you have the boldness, soon stand before the Lady, and reverently stretch out your hands in prayer to Him for me, a sinner, and grant me the bounty of goodness from Him, and accept me into your intercession, and deliver me from all troubles and evils, from the invasion of enemies visible and invisible freeing, and destroying all those slander and malice, and reflecting those who fight me throughout my life; for my sins, ask for forgiveness, and present me saved to Christ and be worthy to receive the Kingdom of Heaven for the abundance of that love for mankind, to which belongs all glory, honor and worship, with his beginningless Father, and with the Most Holy and Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages centuries.

O all-praised, great wonderworker, saint of Christ, Father Nicholas! We pray to you, awaken the hope of all Christians, protector of the faithful, feeder of the hungry, joy of the weeping, doctor of the sick, steward of those floating on the sea, feeder of the poor and orphans, and quick helper and patron of all, may we live a peaceful life here and may we be worthy to see the glory of God’s elect in heaven and with them unceasingly sing the praises of the One God worshiped in the Trinity forever and ever.

O all-holy Nicholas, exceedingly saintly servant of the Lord, our warm intercessor, and everywhere in sorrow a quick helper! Help me, the sinful and sad one, in; in this present life, beg the Lord God to grant me forgiveness of all my sins, which I have sinned greatly from my youth, throughout my entire life, in deed, word, thought and all my feelings; and at the end of my soul, help me, the accursed one, beg the Lord God, the Creator of all creation, to deliver me from airy ordeals and eternal torment, so that I may always glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and your merciful intercession, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Oh, all-merciful Father Nicholas, shepherd and teacher of all who flow with faith to your intercession and call upon you with warm prayer! Strive quickly and deliver Christ’s flock from the wolves that are destroying it; and protect and preserve every Christian country with your holy prayers, from worldly rebellion, cowardice, invasion of foreigners and internecine warfare, from famine, flood, fire and vain death; and just as you had mercy on three men sitting in prison and delivered them from the king of wrath and the beating of the sword, have mercy on me too, in mind, word and deed, existing in the darkness of sins, deliver me from the wrath of God and eternal punishment, as through your intercession and help. With His mercy and grace, Christ God will give me a quiet and sinless life to live in this world and will deliver me from my standing, and will give me the gift of grace with all the saints. Amen.

How the Angel once helped Tobiah find a bride.

First prayer

Amen.

Second prayer

Holy Angel, standing before my accursed soul and my passionate life, do not leave me, a sinner, nor depart from me for my intemperance. Do not give room to the evil demon to possess me through the violence of this mortal body: strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation. To her, holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my accursed soul and body, forgive me everything, I have offended you so greatly all the days of my life, and if I sinned this past night, cover me on this day, and save me from every opposite temptation, Let me not anger God in any sin, and pray for me to the Lord, that He may strengthen me in His passion, and show me worthy as a servant of His goodness. Amen.

Prayer three

Angel of God, my holy guardian, given to me from God from heaven for my protection! I diligently pray to you: enlighten me today, save me from all evil, guide me to good deeds, and direct me on the path of salvation. Amen.

Prayer four

O holy Angel, my good guardian and patron! With a contrite heart and a painful soul, I stand before you, praying: hear me, your sinful servant (name), with a strong cry and a bitter cry; do not remember my iniquities and untruths, in whose image I, the accursed one, anger you all the days and hours, and create abominations for myself before our Creator, the Lord; Show yourself merciful to me and do not leave me, the vile one, even until my death; awaken me from the sleep of sin and with your prayers help me to pass through the rest of my life without blemish and create fruits worthy of repentance; moreover, protect me from the mortal falls of sin, so that I will not perish in despair and may the enemy not rejoice over my destruction. I truly confess with my lips to everyone that no one is a friend and intercessor, protector and champion like you, holy Angel: for standing before the Throne of the Lord, pray for me, indecent, and more sinful than all, so that the Most Good One will not take away my soul on the day of my despair and on the day of creation of evil. Do not cease to propitiate the most merciful Lord and my God, may he forgive me the sins that I have committed throughout my life, in deed, in word and with all my feelings, and, like the news of destinies, may he save me; may He punish me here according to His ineffable mercy, but may He not convict and punish me here according to His impartial justice; may he make me worthy to bring repentance, and with repentance may I be worthy of receiving Divine Communion, for this I pray more and I earnestly desire such a gift. In the terrible hour of death, be persistent with me, my good guardian, driving away the dark demons that have the power to frighten my trembling soul: protect me from those traps, when the imam passes through the airy ordeals, may we protect you, I will safely reach paradise, which I desire, where the faces of the saints and The Heavenly Powers continually praise the all-honorable and magnificent name in the Trinity of the glorified God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, to whom honor and worship are due forever and ever. Amen.

Why is the Akathist to the Guardian Angel read on Mondays?

Dangerous situations await a person from the very moment he is born. The baby may not begin to breathe immediately; a child who has barely learned to crawl is already trying to climb a height or stick his fingers into a socket. As life goes on, the number of such situations only increases. Getting into an accident, complex operations... The world often hears stories in which a person who overslept or got caught in a traffic jam is late for the flight of a plane that subsequently crashed. To remain alive in such a situation is a real miracle. Such a miracle is often attributed to the birth the lucky one “in a shirt,” but believers thank their Guardian Angel for this.

The role of an Angel in people's lives

A Guardian Angel is given to everyone at baptism and protects their soul and body for the rest of their lives. If only a person prayerfully turns to his intercessor, he will always listen, help and guide him on the right path.

Angels cannot be seen or heard, but their role in the life of humanity is enormous. Without their protectors, people would be mired in sins and tormented by devilish temptations. Even the intuition known to everyone is nothing more than a hint of the right decision by the Angel. In addition, they do the following for people:

What requests do they make to their Angel?

About prayers to the Guardian Angel

Usually prayers are considered to be an appeal to God. But they are read not only to Him, but also to the saints, as well as to the Spirit, who relentlessly follows a person throughout his life.

To ask for help, instructions from your Guardian, to feel his presence, you just need to turn to him. For guardianship and care you need to thank your patron with prayer. In addition, you can simply share with him everything that worries you. Such impromptu dialogues can help and calm you down.

How and when to pray

The Angel attached at baptism does not have a specific day of veneration in the Church, like people canonized as saints. Although relatively its day can be considered November 21 - the Day of the Council of the Archangel Michael and other Heavenly Powers of the Ethereal. You should contact your Guardian in daily prayer along with an appeal to the saint whose name the person bears.

Although this is not included in daily morning prayer, you need to read an akathist dedicated to the Angel at least once a week. You can read it at any time, but it is especially recommended to do it on the first day of the week. Not everyone knows, but Monday is considered the day of the Angel in the Church. And some monks and ordinary people fast on this day along with Wednesday and Friday - traditional fast days in honor of the memory of the suffering of the Savior. Not everyone can fast on Monday, but you definitely need to pray to your Heavenly Guardian on this day. This will help you get off to a good start and get through the next seven days.

Rules for reading the akathist

The Akathist consists of twelve ikos, which alternate with thirteen kontakia. The last kontakion is read three times, and then the reading of the first ikos and the first kontakion is repeated. The appeal ends with a prayer to the one to whom the akathist is dedicated. It would be correct to read the prayers in the following order:

All these prayers are in any prayer book. Or you can download them on the Internet.

Since the akathist is an expression of gratitude, and its text is similar in meaning to a hymn, it is more correct to read it while standing. Thus, a person expresses his respect and gratitude to the defender. Of course, if illness or some other valid reason does not allow you to stand for a long time, it would be appropriate to read it while sitting.

Reading prayers helps in many situations. If a person is in trouble, he should think about whether he has forgotten about his Angel. The Angel hears your fervent prayer and immediately tries to help. Usually, after a sincere appeal, your soul immediately becomes lighter and more joyful.

Although the text of the akathist can be found in any prayer book, it is usually sung, and not just pronounced. To find out how this is done and not get confused by the accents, you can download and listen to the akathist in audio recordings.

The meaning of the akathist

The kontakia contains the glorification of the Angel, and in ikos - an explanation of the essence of the human intercessor. Briefly, each of the ikos tells the following about this spirit.

The meaning of prayer

The akathist ends with a prayer. Translated from Church Slavonic into Russian, it will sound like this.

Oh, holy Angel, my good guardian and patron! With a heavy heart and pain in my soul, I stand before you, asking you to hear me, a sinful slave, speaking with despair and tears. Forget my sins, with which I, unworthy, grieve you every day and hour, and do them before the eyes of our Creator, the Lord. Be merciful to me and do not leave me unworthy until my death. Turn me away from sin and teach me to spend the rest of my life without vices and to do good deeds as a sign of repentance. Protect me from mortal sins, so that I do not die in despair, and the enemy does not rejoice at this.

I honestly say that I have no other friend, patron, protector and helper like you, holy Angel. You pray for me, unworthy and the most sinful of people before the Throne of the Lord, so that God will not take my soul on the day when I am not ready or do evil deeds. Do not stop asking for mercy from the Merciful Lord and my God, so that he will forgive me the bad things that I have done throughout my life: sins in deeds, words and all feelings. Let him save me, punish me here according to His boundless mercy, may he not denounce and torment me at His Last Judgment, teach me to repent, with repentance to be worthy to accept Divine Communion. I ask this very much and wish it most of all.

In the terrible hour of death, do not leave me, my good Guardian, driving away the evil spirits trying to frighten my cowardly soul. Protect me from them while I undergo heavenly trials, and under your protection, I will successfully get into the paradise I desire, where the saints and heavenly powers tirelessly thank and glorify the powerful and just God in the person of the Holy Trinity - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He must be saluted and worshiped always. Let it be so.

Akathist by agreement

Sincere prayer - this is a very powerful thing in a person's life. It is through her that dialogue with God and all the saints takes place. But you can pray not only alone, but also united with others. If several people ask for one thing, then, as Jesus Christ himself said, “There I am in the midst of them.” Such a prayer will be heard more quickly by God.

You can't only pray for yourself, but also for loved ones or even strangers. This will definitely help those for whom they are asking. It is not for nothing that mass prayers in the Church with requests to help people could work real miracles. Such examples can be found in the histories of wars.

It doesn’t matter how a person prays - alone or with others, texts and akathists from the prayer book or in his own words. The main thing is to do it regularly and sincerely. Angel does so much for people, the least a person can do in response is to thank his Guardian and try to ensure that his diligence does not go in vain.

About Abba Bessarion, when you live in peace and have no struggle, then humble yourself even more, so as not to boast about the joy that comes from without and not to be tempted; for God often, because of our weaknesses, does not allow us to be exposed to temptations, so that we do not perish. Abba Dula, a student of Abba Vissarion, said the following. One day we were walking along the seashore; I was thirsty, and I said to Abba Vissarion: Abba! I'm very thirsty. The elder, having made a prayer, says to me: drink from the sea. The water became sweet, and I drank. Afterwards I poured water into the vessel, in case I got thirsty again on the way. The elder, seeing this, said to me: why did you pour it? I answered him: forgive me, as if I didn’t get thirsty on the way. Then the elder said: God is here and God is everywhere. 2. At another time, Vissarion needed to cross the Chryzoroya River. Having said a prayer, he crossed it on foot and went ashore. In surprise, I bowed to him and asked: what did your feet feel like when you walked on the water? The elder answered: I felt water on my heels, but the rest was dry. 3. Once upon a time we went to an old man. The sun was beginning to set; The elder, having made a prayer, said: I pray to You, Lord, let the sun stand until I come to Your servant! - So it was. 4. At another time I went up to his cell and found him standing in prayer. His hands were stretched out to the sky, and he remained in this feat for fourteen days. After that he called me and said: follow me. We left and walked into the desert. Feeling thirsty, I told him: Abba, I’m thirsty! - The elder, taking my mantle, went to throw a stone and, having said a prayer, brought me a mantle full of water. Continuing our journey, we came to one cave; Having entered it, they found a brother sitting and making a rope; he didn't look at us, didn't greet us, and didn't want to start a conversation with us at all. Abba Vissarion said to me: let's leave here; Maybe the elder doesn’t want to talk to us. We went to the city of Liko and came to Abba John. We greeted him and said a prayer. Then they sat down and started talking about what they had seen. Abba Vissarion said that a decree was issued about the destruction of idolatry temples, it has already been carried out, and the temples have been destroyed. - On the way back, we again came to the cave in which we saw our brother. The elder said to me: let's go up to him; maybe God inspired him to talk to us. When we got up, we found him already dead. The elder says to me: let’s go, brother, let’s prepare his body for burial; for this is why God sent us here. When we were preparing him for burial, we found that it was a woman. The elder was surprised and told me: this is how women defeat Satan; and we are rioting in the cities. Having glorified God, the protector of those who love Him, we left there. 5. One demoniac once came to Skete; and there was a prayer for him in the church, but the demon did not come out, for he was fierce. The clerics said to each other: what should we do with this demon? No one can expel him except Abba Vissarion; but if we invite him to church for this reason, he will not go. Let's do this: he goes to church before everyone else; Let's put the patient in his place, and when Abba Vissarion comes up, we will stand for prayer, and we will say to him: Abba, wake up your brother too! And so they did. When the elder came in the morning, they began to pray, and they told him: wake up your brother too. The elder said to his brother: get up, get out, and the demon immediately left him, and from that time the sick man became healthy. 6. Abba Vissarion said: I spent forty days and forty nights among the thorns, standing and without sleep. 7. One brother was expelled from the church by an elder for some sin. Abba Vissarion stood up and went out with his brother, saying: I, too, am a sinner. 8. Abba Vissarion said that for forty years he did not lie on his side, but slept either sitting or standing. 9. He said: when you live in peace and have no struggle, then humble yourself even more, so as not to boast about the joy that comes from without and not to be tempted; for God often, because of our weaknesses, does not allow us to be exposed to temptations, so that we do not perish. 10. One brother living with other brothers asked Abba Vissarion: what should I do? The elder answered him: be silent and do not compare yourself with others. 11. Abba Vissarion, dying, said: a monk, like the Cherubim and Seraphim, must be all eyes. 12. The disciples of Abba Vissarion said that his life was like the life of some air bird, or fish, or earthly animals, for he spent the entire time of his life without embarrassment and without worries. The care of the house did not bother him; it seems that neither the desire to have fields, nor the thirst for pleasure, nor the acquisition of dwellings, nor the carrying of books took possession of his soul; but he appeared completely free from bodily worries, nourished by the hope of the future and strengthened by the fence of faith. He, like a prisoner, endured here and there; endured cold and nakedness, was scorched by the heat of the sun, always being in the open air. He, like a fugitive, took refuge on desert rocks and often loved to rush around the vast and uninhabited sandy country, as if along the sea. If he happened to come to quiet places where the monks lead a monotonous life, according to the rule of the monks, he sat at the gate, cried and sobbed, like a swimmer thrown ashore after a shipwreck. Sometimes one of the brothers found him sitting there like a beggar wandering around the world, and, approaching him, said to him with regret: Why are you crying? If you need what you need, we will give you as much as we can, just come to us, share a meal with us, and refresh yourself! Abba Vissarion answered: I cannot stay under the roof until I find my property. I, he said, have lost great property in various ways. I was caught by sea robbers, and was shipwrecked, and lost the glory of my family, and from nobles became ignorant. - If the brother, having shed tears at his words, left and brought him a piece of bread and, giving him, said: accept this, father, and God will return the rest to you, according to your words, the fatherland, the glory of the family and the wealth that you talk about - then the elder wept even more and sobbed loudly, saying: I don’t know how to say whether I can find what, having lost, I am looking for. But I can endure even more, being in mortal danger every day and having no peace from my immeasurable misfortunes; for I need to complete the course of my life amid incessant wandering.

Akathist They call a song of praise in honor of the Savior, the Mother of God, saints or any holidays (events).

Any akathist consists of 25 songs (in accordance with the Greek alphabet). Thirteen of them are called kontakia (songs of praise), and twelve are called ikoses (extensive songs), which explain the essence of the festive event. It is because of this that ikos is never read independently, but only after reading the kontakion. All ikos, with rare exceptions, end with the word “Rejoice,” and at the end of kontakia you can always hear “hallelujah,” which means “praise God.” After the reading of the kontakion there is always an ikos, which, as a rule, is divided into two parts. The last kontakion is considered an appeal to the one to whom the akathist is dedicated. By tradition, it is repeated three times in a row. The akathist is always followed by reading a prayer.

Akathists are not a statutory, obligatory liturgical rite. At services in churches, only the Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos “To the Chosen Voivode...” is necessarily read on the Saturday of Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos, during the fifth week of Great Lent. In modern practice during Great Lent, the Akathist of the Passion of the Lord is also used in the rite of Passion, which is served on Sunday evenings in the 2nd-5th weeks of Great Lent.

Akathists in honor of holidays are sometimes read at Matins of a festive service or at a prayer service on the very day of the holiday. In general, at prayer services they often resort to reading akathists. This is how the order of reading the Paraklisis of the Mother of God developed, where at the prayer service after the sixth song of the canon, an akathist to the Mother of God (or to her icons) is read.

Calling upon the holy saints of God to help with everyday needs, akathists are read to them, to the icons of the Mother of God.

There are no special instructions in the Charter for reading akathists in church and during cell (home) prayer. But from general church practice a rule can be derived: During Great Lent it is not customary to read akathists , except for the Akathist to the Mother of God on the 5th week (on Saturday) and the Akathist to the Passion of Christ. On all other days of the year, reading akathists is permitted.

The akathist itself has a special sequence. So the 13th kontakion is read three times, and immediately after it the first ikos is repeated again, after which the first kontakion is read. At the end of the akathist, a prayer is read.

The order of reading akathists.

Reading akathists separately from the morning and evening prayer rules.

Through the prayers of the saints, our fathers, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us. Amen.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us (three times, with the sign of the cross and bows from the waist).

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse our sins. Master, forgive our iniquities. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

Lord have mercy (three times).

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done as it is in Heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors, and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord have mercy (12 times).

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Come, let us worship our King God (bow).

Come, let us worship and fall down to Christ our King God (bow).

Come, let us bow and fall before Christ Himself, the King and our God (bow).

Psalm 50.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity and bear away my sin before me. I have sinned against You alone, and I have created evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words and overcome, never judge You. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, Thou hast loved the truth, Thou hast revealed to me Thy unknown and secret wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and gladness to my hearing; humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation, and strengthen me with the Master’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had wanted sacrifices, you would have given burnt offerings, but you would not have been pleased. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a contrite and humble heart, God will not despise. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then you will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the wave offering and the burnt offering, then they will lay the bullock on Your altar.

Symbol of faith

I believe in One God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in the One Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, Who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, born, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to Whom all things were. For our sake, man and our salvation came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became human. She was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried. And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And again the coming one will be judged with glory by the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets. Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen.

Then the akathist (read after the 6th song of the canon).

Upon completion of the reading of the canon - a prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ or the Mother of God, a saint - according to the meaning of the akathist. Then:

It is worthy to eat, as you truly bless Theotokos, Ever-Blessed and Most Immaculate and Mother of Our God. The most honorable Cherub and the Most Glorious without comparison Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption, the real Mother of God, we magnify You.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Lord have mercy (three times).

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers, the saint (the name of the saint to whom the akathist was read, if to the Lord or the Mother of God, then we say nothing) and all the saints, have mercy and save me, a sinner, for Good and Lover of Humanity. Amen.
