Ellipsis traces on tiptoe of long-gone words. "Ellipses are the tiptoe marks of words gone by"

"Ellipsis are traces
on tiptoe of gone words"
Vladimir Nabokov

In conversation, people sometimes complain that words come out of their mouths faster than they can be thought through. Sometimes we regret our lack of restraint, but “the word is not a sparrow”, “what is said cannot be taken back”, etc. ...
Whether it’s a matter of writing, you can think about everything a hundred times and write it however you want. You can choose the right words, find arguments, put on beautiful epithets, and now the interlocutor is disarmed. But still, let there be room for thought. Let the sentence end with an ellipsis.
And along these “footsteps of the departed words” the most important words will return.
The sentence is over, but...

I... loved the ellipsis...
Slightly noticeable traces of someone sneaking nearby
fleeting thought...
I loved...
For understatement...
For the invitation - to empathize...
For the charm of intrigue...
For your willingness to breathe together...
For the light light of sadness...
For the length of a charming moment...
For a saving pause,
Bringing the heartbeat back to normal...
I loved the ellipsis
For the gentleness of character...
For the thoughtfulness of the mind...
For the shining three pearls in the words - “Yes...” and “My...”
I said, “I love you...” and I knew:
Without the ellipsis, this prayer will become like a shout - “Stop! I’ll shoot!”
...I would measure feelings with ellipses, not limited to three...
The more points
The higher the passion...
The deeper the drama...
The brighter is love...
The more painful is the word...
The sharper the knife...
The angrier - the truth...
The more deadly the poison...
...Our love, like an ellipsis,
The last grains of sand flow away
Through a dry throat...
From heaven - “God...”
To the underworld - “Go away...”
And I hate ellipses...
For the secret meaning...
For a predetermination chained with three chains...
For three rattlesnake bites...
For hopelessness...
For the knock of loneliness from the future...
For the signs of agony...
For ugly facelessness...
For the obscene whisper of death...
For a shrug: “What can I do...”
Ellipsis...
Small black holes appearing on a paper negative of the night sky
Doomed to eternal slavery to your gravity...
The word “No”, wearing a black dot necklace,
She will turn into an arrogant, soulless lady...
And then...
I'll lie on the cross...
Cobbled together
A log of painful burden...
With a crossbar from sleepless nights...
...Ellipsis, trying on the red hood,
It will turn into clumsy, rusty nails...
And, digging into the flesh, like a bell dot
Will start the usual business
By the crucifixion of Truth...
The first one is to the left...
The second one is to the right...
The third - to bloody, weak feet...
Pain, spreading like a dot,
Will deprive you of your ability
Scream...
Think...
Fight...
Only the quiet battle of a fading mind
Blinking with a stubborn ellipsis...
I love...
I love...
I love...

On April 22, the outstanding cosmopolitan writer Vladimir Nabokov was born. He is a true citizen of the world, an expert on human souls, a virtuoso of words and the author of strange and heartfelt love stories. He wrote about the psychology of men and women, and at the same time lived his whole life with his beloved and irreplaceable wife Vera. He was keen on studying butterflies and even discovered many species, some of which were named after him.

About life

About Me

  • I'm proud enough that I know some things to humbly admit that I don't know everything.
  • There is not a single person in the world who speaks my language; or in short: not a single person speaking; or even shorter: not a single person.
  • I often think that a special punctuation mark for a smile is needed - some kind of concave line or a parenthesis lying on its side.
  • I just can’t manage to return to my shell and settle into myself as before - it’s such a mess: the furniture has been rearranged, the light bulb has burned out, my past is torn to shreds.

About a human

  • It is necessary to distinguish sentimentality from sensitivity. A sentimental person can be extremely cruel in private life. A sensitive person is never cruel.
  • It is a remarkable human characteristic: you may not know that you are doing good, but you cannot not know that you are doing bad.
  • In every person, to one degree or another, two forces oppose each other: the need for solitude and the thirst for communication with people.
  • There are people who live precisely through their eyes, vision - all other senses are just the obedient retinue of this king of feelings.
  • The best response to enemy criticism is to smile and forget.
  • He was one of those impressionable people who blush to tears at the awkwardness of others.

About love

  • Of course, I could not kill her, as some expected. I, you see, loved her. It was love at first sight, at last sight, at eternal sight.
  • The dense happiness of first love is unique.
  • A change of scenery is a traditional delusion on which doomed love and incurable consumption pin their hopes.
  • Memory resurrects everything except smells, but nothing resurrects the past so completely as the smell once associated with it.
  • The books you love should be read with trembling and gasping with delight.
  • The ellipses are the tiptoe marks of departed words.

He was keen on studying butterflies and even discovered many species, some of which were named after him.

Vladimir Nabokov was born on April 20, 1899 into the aristocratic family of the famous Russian politician Vladimir Dmitrievich Nabokov. The Nabokov family used three languages: Russian, English, and French - thus, the future writer was fluent in three languages from early childhood. In his own words, he learned to read English before he could read Russian. The first years of Nabokov's life were spent in comfort and prosperity in the Nabokovs' house on Bolshaya Morskaya in St. Petersburg and in their country estate Batovo (near Gatchina).

He began his education at the Tenishevsky School in St. Petersburg, where Osip Mandelstam had studied shortly before. Literature and entomology become Nabokov's two main hobbies. Shortly before the revolution, Nabokov published a collection of his poems with his own money.

The revolution of 1917 forced the Nabokovs to move to Crimea, and then, in 1919, to emigrate from Russia. They managed to take some of the family jewelry with them, and with this money the Nabokov family lived in Berlin, while Vladimir was educated at Cambridge, where he continues to write Russian poetry and translates L. Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” into Russian.

He liked to say about himself:

“I am an American writer, born in Russia, educated in England, where I studied French literature before moving to Germany for fifteen years. ...My head speaks English, my heart speaks Russian, and my ear speaks French.”

About life

The three-syllable formula of human life: the irrevocability of the past, the insatiability of the present and the unpredictability of the future.

Life is a big surprise. Perhaps death will be an even bigger surprise.

It is not guided tours that come to God, but lonely travelers.

Life is just a crack of weak light between two perfectly black eternities.

Truth is one of the few Russian words that does not rhyme with anything.

About love

Of course, I could not kill her, as some expected. I, you see, loved her. It was love at first sight, at last sight, at eternal sight.

The dense happiness of first love is unique.

A change of scenery is a traditional delusion on which doomed love and incurable consumption pin their hopes.

Memory resurrects everything except smells, but nothing resurrects the past so completely as the smell once associated with it.

The ellipses are the tiptoe marks of departed words.

We were trapped in a crystal ball,

and you and I flew past the stars,

swiftly, silently we glided

from shine to shine blissful blue.

And there was no past, no goal,

eternity has united us in delight,

We flew across the skies, hugging each other,

blinded by the smiles of the luminaries.

The hands of the wall clock froze at twelve. The woman peered into the impenetrable darkness that reigned outside the window. The city slept and slept for a long time. There was a light in the windows of only one apartment in the huge departmental building. But it soon went out, giving way to the glare that the unevenly burning candle cast on the walls. The man, sitting with his back to the window, breathed silently, but the orange light caught his every exhalation and began to tremble. - You decided everything! She decided on her own without asking me! - he said, running his fingers through his hair. Before that, they were silent for a long time, each thinking about his own and at the same time about the same thing. - It will be better this way! - she answered, nodding her head, completely forgetting that the man couldn’t see her. -Who is better? To me? You? - he asked the question again in a quiet, even voice. But the woman clearly heard the despair and pain in him. She knew him too well - guessing the man’s mood was not an impossible task for her. Now he felt pain, and that was the reason. But she didn’t want to hurt him, it was just time to put all the dots, or rather one dot, at the end of the sentence. And let the phrase break off in the middle. And the rest of the words are about to disappear, go away, silently. It will be more correct this way. Maybe. - I don’t know, Kohl. I don't know! .. - Colonel Rogozina whispered, wiping a salty drop from her cheek. - Then? .. - I just feel like it needs to be done! Put an end to it and slam the book with our history! Major Kruglov jumped up sharply from his seat. The candle that had been following his movements hissed and went out, completely plunging the apartment into darkness. - Galya, Galochka, Galchonok! Do not do it, Please! If you need time, take it! As much as you want! I'll wait, I'll wait! Just spare me these punctuation marks, please! Please! His every word was accompanied by a greedy kiss. He showered it on her face, neck, and arms. The woman did not resist. Galya stood silently, and tears rolled out from under her closed eyelids one after another. She does not want, cannot leave him, leave. - I don’t want to put an end to it! But since it already exists, let’s add two more after it! .. - Ellipsis... - Galya whispered with just her lips. - With it you can add something. Period... Period is the end! And I don't want the end! - Kolya pressed her to his chest, burying his face in her hair. He can no longer live without her. Never. And this end will be his end too. Life will lose all its meaning, which now lies only in Gala - in the opportunity to see her, touch her. Rogozina rose on her tiptoes and touched his ear with her lips, whispering: “I believe that our ellipsis will definitely turn into a comma!” But, unfortunately, not now. Kolya looked into her eyes, but did not ask the question of when that moment would finally come. He promised to wait, and he will wait. The main thing is that there is an ellipsis, which means there are traces along which the words that have gone, not spoken, will come back. - I'll come back! I'll come back and everything will definitely change! - the colonel whispered furiously, snuggling closer to Kolya and hugging him tighter, wanting to enjoy the last hours with him, before she had to leave her beloved city, her favorite job, her beloved for a long time...

Who is to blame and what to do? - (author Mikhail Lex) Depression is not a disease, but a consequence of a person’s negative attitude towards life, which leads him to a state characterized by a depressed mood, regardless of circumstances, loss of interest or pleasure in previously enjoyable activities, fatigue, pessimism, guilt , feelings of worthlessness, anxiety and fear, low self-esteem, inability to concentrate and make decisions, thoughts of death and suicide, unstable appetite, weight loss or gain, sleep disturbances, insomnia or oversleeping. We can safely say that a person who has a positive attitude towards life arrives in the opposite state, carrying opposite traits. Depression can be chronic (permanent), that is, constant or prolonged, or it can be non-chronic (achronic), that is, unstable, short-term. Only those who have a chronically negative attitude towards life suffer from chronic depression. Those who sometimes experience life negatively experience short-term depression. As soon as a person begins to have a negative attitude towards life, he immediately finds himself in a depressed state, and not vice versa. It is not depression that leads to a negative perception of life, but a negative perception of life that leads to depression. The more often a person is in a state of negative attitude towards life and the longer these states last, the stronger the features that characterize depression are manifested: more depressed mood, more severe fatigue and a stronger feeling of guilt, and so on. A short-term and infrequent negative attitude towards life manifests itself accordingly in weak, minor depressive manifestations: a little guilt, a little feeling of worthlessness, a little fear, a little suicidal thoughts, and so on. The problem with a person going into depression is that the person cannot do it on their own. For this, other people are needed who will do something that will make a person have a negative attitude towards life. In order for a person to get out of depression, he needs to regain a positive outlook on life. There is no other way out. But the problem of getting out of depression, just like when entering, is that a depressed person cannot do it on his own. Getting into and out of depression is only possible with the help of other people. False ways out: No medications are used to get in and out of depression. This should be especially taken into account when coming out of depression. The so-called antidepressants that are used today to get out of depression and which act on certain areas of the human brain in such a way that they disconnect them from the general connections of the brain, in fact, do not lead anywhere, but simply turn off a person’s ability to realize his negative attitude towards life. After some time, the effect of antidepressants stops, the connections of the disconnected areas of the brain are restored, the general picture of the world is restored, and with it the person’s negative attitude towards life is restored. Added to this are the negative consequences of exposure to chemicals on the human body. A person’s brain, his liver, his kidneys, his stomach are corroded by chemicals, and in addition to this, a person’s blood is clogged. As a result, body problems are added to the problem of the spirit, and physiological problems are added to the psychological problem. Who is guilty? The person’s immediate environment is to blame for everything. First of all, these are his family and friends. It is they who, through their efforts in educating a person and imposing on him certain life principles and guidelines, bring a person to a negative attitude towards life, as a result of which the person ends up in chronic or non-chronic depression. Pay attention to how many prominent athletes, artists, artists, religious and political figures have been and are depressed in the past and in the present. Not every person, especially if he arrives in childhood, has the strength and ability to withstand the onslaught of his upbringing by his parents. And not all adults can resist the stupidity of their parents, let alone children. And in the same way, adult children can easily drive their already old parents into a depressed state, having previously caused them (through their incredible efforts in raising their parents) a negative attitude towards life. What to do? Getting out of a depressed state is only possible using a method that is the opposite of how a person is driven into depression. A person cannot just suddenly start to have a negative attitude towards life out of the blue. Certain conditions are required, a certain atmosphere conducive to this. Malice and hatred, enmity, lies, lack of love, lack of faith and hope, envy, jealousy - these are the methods that, if used in, for example, education, can cause a persistent aversion to life in any person. Parents are not the only ones involved in education. The state, for example, educates its citizens with the help of various educational institutions, including churches. First of all, it is necessary to realize and understand that a depressed person will not get out of it on his own, no matter how much he wants it. The immediate environment of the person suffering from depression should be aware of this. Negative consequences: Getting out of depression on your own certainly leads to a variety of negative consequences. In other words, a person who independently comes out of depression changes not his attitude towards life, but himself, and in such a way that he, but a new, different person, adapts to the negative perception of life in such a way that the negative becomes positive. For example, a person changes sexual orientation, or becomes a member of some religious, political or other social sect. A person who comes out of depression on his own can easily become a criminal. Moreover, before a person becomes a criminal, whether he commits murder, theft, or begins to give and take bribes, before he embarks on one or another destructive path of his development, he must necessarily find himself in depression, from where he will begin to recover on his own. Equally dangerous: The desire to adapt to the world, or to adjust the world to oneself, arises exclusively in a person who either 1. looks at the world negatively and, as a consequence, is depressed, or 2. has independently come out of depression thanks to changing himself, and only thanks to this change view of the world. It is equally dangerous to adapt to the world and to change the world for yourself. In both cases, when a person changes the world to suit himself and when he adapts to the world, he turns either into a criminal, or into a homosexual, or into a religious, political or social fanatic. Having come out of depression on his own, a person becomes either a political psychopath like Hitler or Stalin, or a religious madman like Torquemada and Savonarola, or a psychopathic homosexual or a drug addict and alcoholic from some kind of art or some kind of science. Among the artists there are a lot of drug addicts, alcoholics, homosexuals, pedophiles, rapists and other perverts and psychopaths. As a rule, those who have come out of depression on their own, who have achieved a lot in life, commit suicide, as did, for example, Hemingway, Freud, Hitler, Kurt Cobain, Mayakovsky, Fadeev, Tsvetaeva, Stefan Zweig and his wife, Jack London, Akutagawa Ryunosuke , Savva Morozov, and many others. Re-read the biographies of great suicides. In everyone you will find periods of depression and an independent way out of it. This is why many people prefer not to get out of depression on their own, feeling the terrible consequences this can lead to. What should the immediate circle of a depressed person do? Create an atmosphere of friendship, honesty, faith, and hope around the depressed person. A depressed person will not change until he changes his attitude towards life from negative to positive. For every person, his life, the life of other people and the world in which they all arrive is not something abstract, but always something concrete. And what could be more specific than a person’s immediate environment? His parents, his brothers and sisters, his friends, work colleagues, and so on. All those whom a person encounters directly in life. It is these people who create a certain atmosphere around each person, and form a certain outlook on life, and this outlook is either positive or negative. Depression is not a disease, but a natural reaction of a person to life, as he sees it and as he understands it. No matter how creepy the world may seem to a person, and no matter how scary and vile life may seem to a person, a person will not commit evil against life and the world as long as he becomes depressed, which he will certainly end up in if he perceives life as something terrible and vile. But if he comes out of depression without changing his attitude towards life, but by changing himself, then he is capable of any atrocity towards the world and life. Depression is nothing more than a defense mechanism that protects the world from a person who has a negative outlook on life. As soon as a person thinks about something bad, his attitude towards life immediately becomes negative, and he immediately falls into depression, which reduces his capabilities, which as a result prevents him from committing any evil. What to do if you are depressed Be depressed and under no circumstances try to get out of it on your own. Depression is a high temperature of the soul of someone whose outlook on life is negative. Depression must be overcome without taking any medications, without so-called antidepressants, which do not solve any problems, but only reduce high spiritual temperatures. After all, even a high body temperature should not be brought down with medications, since its purpose is to kill the bacteria present in the body. And the same thing with depression, like a high temperature of the soul. Depression is not a problem or grief. Depression is a necessity, the purpose of which is to kill the spiritual bacteria that infect the human consciousness. A depressed person should not do anything at all. Doing nothing is the motto of a depressed person. Because no matter what someone who is depressed does, it will all be a terrible nightmare. And the stronger the depression, the more terrible and the nightmare that the one who is in it can create. You need to understand that you are depressed and do nothing. Don't even try to do anything. Tell those around you that you are depressed and ask them to create an atmosphere of friendship, honesty, faith, hope around you and wait, wait for the depressed mood to pass, regardless of the circumstances, when interest in previously enjoyable activities arises again, when optimism is felt and fatigue disappears , the feeling of guilt and uselessness will disappear, anxiety and fear will disappear, low self-esteem will disappear, when the ability to concentrate and make decisions will arise, thoughts of death and suicide will go away. And if this does not happen, if the depression does not go away, then, consequently, the negative atmosphere around the depressed person does not disappear. And this is the fault and responsibility not of the person who is depressed, but of his immediate environment. Unsuccessful attempts: In conclusion, I will give examples of unsuccessful attempts to get out of depression on your own. Cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Antidepressants. Binge eating. Psychotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists and their various types of psychoanalysis, various psychological practices and trainings. Various religions and their religious practices. As for religions, it is important to know that it is not religions that generate the highest moral ideas that contribute to the spiritual health of society, but spiritually healthy people who generate the highest moral ideas and create religions as institutions for maintaining the spiritual health of society, and not for its improvement. A sick person cannot create something healthy. And before anything healthy can arise, the one who will become the generating cause of something healthy must be healthy. All religions of the world were created by spiritually healthy people and were not created as hospital institutions for the spiritually and mentally ill, but were created exclusively for mentally and spiritually healthy people and only for them to maintain their spiritual and mental health. And if it is noticed that the authority of a religion is declining and people’s interest in it disappears, then this indicates that this religion has minded its own business. After all, religion is not omnipotent. God can be called omnipotent, but not the religion and not the church of his preachers. But some religions and some churches imagine themselves as gods and decide that they are able to cope with any problems, including depression. Today, many people suffering from depression seek relief from one religion or another, alcohol, overeating, drugs, psychotherapy, and so on. As a result, what happens is that the person feels better, but at the same time the person becomes dependent on what brought him relief. Relief occurred, but the situation as a whole did not change. The man was depressed and remained depressed. The only difference is that now he does not feel any spiritual discomfort. But discomfort is not felt only if a person constantly takes what brought him relief. This is the answer to the question why a bribe-taker, thief, deceiver and murderer come to church, get relief and with a light heart continue to take bribes, kill, deceive, and steal. They don't feel depressed. They don't feel what would make them helpless. And they don’t feel it because they are on some drug or another, or drunk, or took a large dose of antidepressants, or went through psychoanalysis, or through absolution in some religion. They feel good. And they, hating the world and life, hating themselves and others in this life, do not experience a depressed mood, regardless of circumstances. Bribe takers, thieves, murderers and other scum who have gone through repentance and absolution, or some other religious or psychological practice have not lost interest and pleasure from previously pleasant activities, they do not feel tired, they are all optimists, no feelings of guilt or feelings of worthlessness, no anxiety or fear, the highest self-esteem, the highest ability to concentrate and make decisions, no thoughts of death or suicide, good appetite and good, sound sleep. I wish you health, love and creative success. Best regards, Mikhail Lex. ### ### ### ### #### ##### #####
